What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

- YA book series, with each book focussing on a separate set of characters and a separate scenario. Common theme is experiencing and surviving a natural disaster
- Tsunami: Family crewing small ship (fishing / cargo) in the pacific islands. Volcano erupts triggering a tsunami which capsizes the boat and leaves family battling for survival. Ultimately one member of family takes a small canoe, chased by sharks to find help
- There is also a book based around an snow avalanche - maybe 2 brothers who get trapped, and have to escape

Not a series book but similar plot.
The shark callers by Eric Campbell. Two teenage boys, one on a shark hunt and the other traveling with his family, face the challenge of their lives when a volcano erupts causing a massive tidal wave in the South Seas.

I found an older book (1984) that has several stories (incl. volcanic eruptions and shark attacks), but all in the one volume:
Jet Getaway and Other Amazing Escapes


I know I saw another 'survival' series (but purely fictional) yesterday while looking for something else... Of course I can't remember what it's called. ;)

Were these library books, or did you own a boxed set? :) Anything about the cover or a name that stands out? (I don't suppose you remember any islands or locations, or species of fish?) ;)

Any chance it might be a Christian series (like the Ladd Family Adventures: https://www.goodreads.com/series/6703...)?

I think the above were fictionalised based on true events. Is it possible the series is earlier than 1990s? Was it early or late 1990s they were read? Books were found by searching worldcat.org. There could be other series as survival stories are popular.

Thanks All! I think the tsunami book is the shark callers. I suspect I have mis-remembered this being part of a series (and it was Shark Callers I was after), so think we can call this one solved.
