Hi there, my name is Paul Wilkinson. One item on my retirement 'bucket list' was to write a fictional novel. What a journey of discovery that has been! Developing characters that eventually took over the book writing as it progressed.

My novel is a humorous sci-fi book called 'WOW'.

"...Paul Drake’s life gets turned upside down by an unfortunate accident involving a coconut. After he wakes up in hospital, he is aware of strange dreams and images. He develops a sudden obsessive compulsion towards a piece of paper; believing that he is now somehow responsible for recording an important message.
Surely these are symptoms of the concussion he suffered? As part of his recovery he goes through cognitive group therapy with Zack, his therapist, and three other delusional patients.
Ruth is fanatical about interpreting religious texts to make sense of suffering, and is convinced that Paul could be about to receive a message from God.
John, who claims to be a Pastafarian – only insofar as a spaghetti strainer is concerned - is convinced that Paul is receiving signals from extraterrestrials, who appear to be influencing our weather systems.
Franck is wrapped up in his own private struggles with unfinished cold war business, and sees Russian spies and mind control being behind it all.
Paul struggles to come to terms and accept that either he is going crazy; the people around him are crazy; or something very strange is going on. Surely the facts as they unfold, detached from the delusion infused reality, are simply a set of hideous coincidences? Being in a group of like-minded delusional patients and a therapist who needs therapy, isn’t helping him in trying to discover what is real. In the end..."
