Luke Gagliardi Just wondering, should I start Malazan or the Long Prince Quartet next.

Raptori I'll doubtless be shot down by fans of the series, but I couldn't get into Malazan. Really enjoyed Long Price on the other hand.

Luke Gagliardi Thanks! I think I'm going to start there so I don't get too deep into something I can't get out of right before exams. The end of the day the Long Prince is shorter.

Raptori No probs, hope you like them! Long Price is a relatively slow read for some people too, but it's definitely worth it. If you want a faster book you should try Ready Player One, probably the most fun I've had reading a book for years :)

Luke Gagliardi Hey thanks I'll check it out! If you're looking for something new and quick I'd check out Blood Song or The Emperor's Blades.

Raptori Never heard of Blood Song, will have to check it out. I read The Emperor's Blades a while back, haven't checked out the sequel yet though :)

I'm halfway through the Powder Mage trilogy right now, another one that's well worth a try. Vaguely similar to Sanderson, with a slightly grittier style - which isn't surprising since it's written by one of his students!

Pavel Surý I have read only the first few Malazan books so far and I'd recommend it. It seems it rather highlights the world and the history: when you read the plot, you're like "Okay" most time (with some exceptions, of course), but you feel great after discovering the whole context of the events. And there is definitely a lot to discover!

Janardan Nathan You should check out Brandon Sanderson's works too.

he does seem extremely popular, but the idea of allomancy left me completely cold

Sahasan Malazan. Period. If you have to read a single series in your lifetime, it is this. Malazan is the only series that deserves the EPIC label.
And if you do go for Abraham, read his Dagger & Coin series, it is his best work. Long Price Quartet is a bit not-so-epic
