Christine PNW (moonlight_reader) | 1171 comments This is not my favorite Christie - I've only read it once & have little desire to revisit, although I plan to reread this month.

Maybe that's why I haven't been enthusiastic about putting up the thread - mental block? ;)

Teresa | 426 comments This wouldn't appeal to me at all so I'll be giving this month's read a miss. I'll drop in and out to see what everyone has to say.

Cindy | 111 comments I slogged through it. That’s about all I can say.

Yeah, it's not good.

Good on you for reading it!

message 6: by Maggie (new)

Maggie | 78 comments I thought it was a good effort by Agatha Christie to write historical fiction – not an entirely successful one, as some of the characters felt like contemporary characters placed in ancient Egypt, but a good experiment nevertheless. But I didn't like how dark it was, and the high death count was rather unnecessary. It seemed unrealistic too, (view spoiler)

Rosemarie | 257 comments I've just finished it and think it's okay, but the setting wasn't convincing. It didn't feel like ancient Egypt to me. I also found the language stilted and forced at times.

message 8: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 159 comments I'm about a third of the way in and I just don't know how much more vitriolic speech I can take. Someone above said there is a high death count. I can see why and I must confess I'm looking forward to it so there will be fewer characters I have to listen to. This family is completely joyless. There are no characters to identify with. I'm going to have to quit the audio version and read through the remainder of the book as quickly as possible if I intend to finish.

Mary (maryschumacher) | 153 comments Thanks to the high death count, I was able for the first time to accurately guess the murderer of a Christie novel.

Yea I was wondering how many people could be killed off before the killer was the only one left alive. I couldn't give this more than 2 stars.
