It's time to start planning our September group reads.

Before we get to the topic, the rules and some news first.

-Authors and publishers may NOT nominate their own books.
-Previous group reads are NOT eligible. To make it easier to see if a book was read previously, the list now includes an alphabetical list (by title) on page 2, after the chronological list. PLEASE refer to this thread before nominating books:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
-The top two vote getters will be the winners. Books that receive more +1s are more likely to make the final poll.

And now on to the theme:
It's the Return of Planes, Trains and Automobiles

We're looking for HORROR books that take place on/in or significantly include PLANES, TRAINS or AUTOMOBILES (NOT named Christine).
description

Give us your best horror books with one of these modes of transport.
And one last thing.... we're also out of coffee.

When posting, please link to the title and/or cover of the books so everyone can easily click it to see exactly what book you're nominating.

Use the "add book/author" link above the text box and then search for the title when the search window pops up. Thank you.

Whitney | 37 comments In defense of Shane, I’m reading on the app, and “not Christine” doesn’t show up in the first post. It goes straight to the picture.

Edited to add, now that I'm on a computer, nothing in the first post shows up after the "Dong" picture when viewing from the app.

The Deep is on a boat. The theme is trains, planes and autos, so it's not eligible. Feel free to nominate something else.

I've been meaning to read this! I think it may be more of a thriller than a horror though. I read T J Newman's first book Falling Falling by T.J. Newman and that was more of a thriller. I could be wrong.

Leigh wrote: "Re. Drowning - I read it last week, and it's definitely in the Thriller category. Very good, though."

Thanks for clarifying that for me.

As everything I've read about TJ Newman's Drowning (book cover, Goodreads' categories, reviews, reader comments) places it squarely in the Thriller category, and not Horror, it will not be included in the poll for the group reads.
However, since a few people have shown interest, I will be happy to set up a buddy read, or someone else may do so.
