I co-manage Strong Women - Strange Worlds, a group that supports and elevates the voices of women and nonbinary authors of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. We host twice-monthly, live, virtual (via Zoom) readings that feature 6 authors each reading for 8 minutes each. The events are FREE and a lot of fun! It's sort of a "tasting menu"/sampler platter of stories and sort of like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates - one never knows what they are going to get / hear :-)
It's a fun time and the audience can chat with each other during the event and cheer on the authors and then there's Q&A with the authors after the readings conclude. We're starting a bookclub as well. We're a fun bunch and come together to celebrate our love of speculative fiction in all its forms. We've had speculative fiction poets (who knew scifi haiku was a whole genre of its own??), short story writers, novelists (MG, YA, NA, and Adult), graphic novelists, picture book authors - the whole gamut!
