My latest DNF is Beast Ivory, Judith it is awful. Didn't like any of the characters. Age difference, spoiled 18yr old being married off to 35ish guy who has a married mistress on the same ship ugg. They all deserve each other. The audio was fine the story was UGGGG.

Congrats on finishing! It’s tough doing that when you’re hating everything.

It's rare I DNF but I have so many on my TBR. So I had to create a gage on when to DNF. If I'm 50% through and I could care less about any of the MC's or their romance outcome I DNF. Or if whatever is happening is giving me uncomfortable angst that is causing issues in my real life, like effecting my mood in a bad way, I DNF.So... I'm' not sure why this has so may 5 stars. but
was a serious DNF at 50%, of both my above reasons. I didn't like the MMC. Yea he was a sociopath But I've read others like him and loved the books, The Bad Guy as an example. But I can't seem to like anything about this guy. and I HAVE to find something I like about my MC's to make it a good book for me. And the FMC was a doormat. I get the lust at first site but when the MMC sexually violates the female on the first encounter, I really have trouble believing lust at first site. I like Dark Romances but ... (view spoiler) and thats a no go.Alos I really need to start at the beginning of Kent's previous series as it's all about the parents of these kids. This book had all the children socializing in their college years. And I felt lost. I'm a stickler about reading in order but I thought I could do this one before the others but no.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

DNF at 30%. Did not like the female main character narrator at all. The fake laughs, etc. drove me crazy and the story did not make up for it.
Jonetta wrote: "If you hung in there through 30%, that’s more than enough to know it won’t work."I wanted a romcom read to break switch up my early stage In Death marathon, but this was not it. The gruffness of the MC’s voice didn’t fit the character. There were multiple narrators, not the normal dual pov narration. Didn’t work here.
I finished listening to Good Half Gone by Tarryn Fisher and it was disappointing, crippled even more by an ill-suited narrator.

I finished listening to One Lucky Subscriber by Kellye Garrett, Busybodies #5, and I’m clearly not the audience for this story.

Or if whatever..."I'm the same! I'll give a romance (sometimes, maybe a thriller because it needs time to sort storylines) 50% of my "buy-in" and will bail if by that time, I'm so irritated / frustrated by the FMC's frailty/shrillness/plain eff-ery of the MMC's feelings; conversely, if the MMCs such a carelessly unfeeling cardboard.
Of course, without hesitation, if an author doesn't respect the characters or the reader by having them in closed door situations after a ridiculous meet-ugly (for it's so contrived it's not even cute), then I'm slapping stars from the rating and skipping sentences/paragraphs/chapters...seems fair to the author and the book itself. There are so many better romance books to be shackled under heavy crinoline for a bad romance book. :D
For non-romance books, I'm quicker to say "life's too short for this book" and will DNF after 30-35% in.
