J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 600 comments Several have followed the story on FF started by Christine Combe: The Husbands of Elizabeth Bennet. It has been divided into two volumes by special request of the readers. It has now been pulled and launched yesterday. Those who do not like Elizabeth being married to another... walk away. Soon volume two will start posting on FF with the widow Countess, Lady Elizabeth Sedgwick, and Mr. Darcy falling in love.

The Husbands of Elizabeth Bennet, Volume One A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Christine Combe The Husbands of Elizabeth Bennet, Volume One: A Pride and Prejudice Variation

Sam H. | 828 comments This was a good one. I think it was the first book of hers I truly enjoyed! I pray Vol. 2 is just as good.

Does she call her Lady Elizabeth? Because that is incorrect. She would be Lady Sedgwick.

I will read it because I have enjoyed at least one of her books.

@ 6: Sam, I agree completely. I really enjoyed His lordship. He was a great guy with a horrid family.

Oh I’m sorry I mentioned it. My mother was an English teacher so it’s in my DNA.

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 600 comments Don't be sorry, Anne. We help each other in this group. I didn't think anything about it. It felt so natural. LOL!

message 12: by Craftyhj (new)

Craftyhj | 441 comments Thanks Sophia - it's free in the UK too.

message 13: by Ceri (new)

Ceri | 37 comments I saw this posted on Facebook by Karen M Cox, it's a potential plagiarism warning:

"FYI/PSA
Hey readers - the admins at AHA have heard there might be another plagiarized story on Amazon and would like readers to be aware.

The book on Amazon is Prudent Choices by Alison Long.
The original author was Ali972 and the title was Overthrowing such Schemes. Her stories were removed from AHappy Assembly site some time ago.
AHA has reached out about this matter via email to her site, but there has been no response.
If anyone here knows Ali , perhaps you might contact her and have her contact Amazon?
Thank you !"

This follows on from some other probable stolen stories.

A Judge of Their Characters by Lucrezia was being sold under the name of Lucrezia Robertson.

Also Henry’s Legacy by jmiracchi was published as Secrets and Misconceptions by Lauren Thompson.

Apparently these were taken too, just wanted to warn you not to buy.

message 14: by Craftyhj (new)

Craftyhj | 441 comments I knew about the first two but not the last so thanks for the heads up Ceri. As someone who makes her living in the creative field (with textiles rather than words) this makes me hopping mad!

Good to know! Thanks, Ceri!

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 600 comments I hate this. Maybe with the advent of AI, thieves will stop stealing stories and allow the bot to write their stories for them.

message 17: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 828 comments That would be one positive thing to be grateful for in regards to AI! Always a silver lining...

message 18: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 600 comments Stolen story update:

I sent a message on the fanfiction site to jfb a.k.a. jmiracchi [on AHA] about the stolen story. Here is the response.

Thank you all so much. I am grateful beyond words. Someone did indeed steal my story.

I knew about this only because a reader sent me an e-mail. I was distraught that this person stole my baby. Amazon was great about it. In less than 24 hours, they had taken the stolen piece down. It should not now appear for sale anywhere online.

Please pass along my gratitude to all your friends at Goodreads.

Again, thank you all so much.

Janice M.

I'm glad she was able to get her story removed quickly.

I bought it but it will be a while before I can read it. I am TOO close to the situation. Just looking at the title, made me tear up. I can't do it right now. However, I do want to help.

I have never been impressed by this author, but I admire her support for this cause, and I bought it. Thanks for spreading the word, Jeanne. I'm sorry this hits so close to home for you. ❤️

It has been almost 15 years for me. Grief is not over in a year. I tell people that his loss is still as big and as deep a hole as it was in the beginning. I have just built more bridges over it and paths around it. I do not spend as much time thinking about it but when I do . . . There is no expiration date on grief. 3 cheers for good men!! God bless you.
