What do you think some good ideas for future books would be? I'm thinking Hercules, Swan Princess, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Aladdin. Think these would make good once upon a time books, or not? Or do these not even fit the criteria?

I think it would be cool to have a peter pand and Robin hood one!! They would all be fun to read as books and I think they fit the criteria!!!
I think all of them except maybe Robin Hood because dont all the Once Upon a Time books have magic????
You can add magic into any story.
Those sound like great ideas Erica! I wonder how many more there will be...

Absolutely, that would be awesome!! I never thought of that... What other fairytales have they not done yet, I can't think of any!
I feel like they should do a retelling of the Little Matchstick Girl, but end it happily. It used to be my favorite fairytale, except I always cried at the end.And they could make like...fifteen different versions of each story and it'd be new and different every time.
Isn't there a Mulan story, too?
Wild Orchid is the Mulan story. And the Little Matchstick Girl would be cute, except it is really sad.
The Little Matchstick Girl is basically about a homeless girl on New Year's Eve who has to sell matches or her dad will beat her, and she ends iup lighting them herself and hallucinating, and then she runs out and freezes to death...It's cute...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Litt...
It's about a little girl who's extremely poor and after a series of events she eventually freezes to death... (Sorry if I completely give away the story) There are more details that explain the in between parts. It's kind of morbid but is a cute heartfelt read. If they could find a way to make it "Once Upon a Time" material I'd love it! :)
That sounds like it would be a good Once Upon a Time book if they maybe changed the ending up a little.
They should do Aladdin if they can figure out a way to make Aladdin a girl and not ruin the whole story.
That would be. If I knew any of the authors I'd recomend it. but unfortunately I don't know any of them. D;
Emily wrote: "They should do Aladdin if they can figure out a way to make Aladdin a girl and not ruin the whole story."Aladdin would be very cool! It would be tricky to change the gender of many of the characters, but the authors could definitely pull it off
Pocahontas is beauty and the beast, which they did two of. The one more inclined towards Pocahontas is Spirited: A Retelling of "Beauty and the Beast".
What do you mean by 'changing the gender of the characters'?

I meant switch it around so that the main character would be a girl instead of a guy, and the romantic interest would be a guy instead of a girl. And now I'm just sounding confusing. Sorry about that.
the original version had a prince and a girl peasant. Then they 'Disneyified' it and everyone thinks of the princess and peasant boy.
Oh, okay. I'd never read the original, I'd only read the version in Arabian Nights and seen the Disney movie. Thanks. Now I know :)
Hahaha, I think the original is actually called "The Fairies" by Charles Perrault- Toads and Diamonds is the one with two sisters (or a sister and step-sister, whichever) who each separately meet an old woman somewhere. One girl is sweet to the old woman, so she is rewarded by having diamonds fall from her mouth whenever she speaks. The other is rude, so she gets toads and snakes falling from her mouth when she speaks. Some books that illustrate this story are:The Talking Eggs
Toads and Diamonds
The Fairy's Mistake
cool. thanks. I'll have to look into those. I like to read as many versions of a story as I can. xD
