It's in Schenectady, hence the event being called "It Came from Schenectady," which is also a Barry B. Longyear anthology.
That's also probably a pun. There's a classic joke in the SF writers community about where you get your ideas: there's a mail-order firm in Schenectady. You sign up with them for the five-idea, ten-idea, or economy-sized 25-idea package. . . .Though I have heard writers warning that if you cite that joke in a speech, people will actually ask you for the address.
