It seems to me that the first chapter of Bhagavid-gita shows us a sort of psychological dilemma: we can see how Arjun is astonished to see that his relatives became his enemies.
In this passage we can also see how he feels towards the idea of killing the members of his family: for him it's a sort of sacrilege to destroy his own family, and this is actually the topic that made me wonder if there are other ancient written sources that are focused on this topic
