Write here which book would you like to read in November.
The full list of VMC books you can find on our to-read shelf.

For the sake of diversity, please don't nominate books from previous poll, that is:
Frost in May by Antonia White
Deep Water by Patricia Highsmith
A Far Cry from Kensington by Muriel Spark
Surfacing by Margaret Atwood
The Street by Ann Petry
The Living Is Easy by Dorothy West.
You will be able to nominate them again after a month.

You can nominate 1 or 2 books. The rest of the rules you can find here.

No more suggestions, so I will add my nomination this time (The Return of the Soldier by Rebecca West). And we will close it.

The nominations for November are as follows:

High Rising by Angela Thirkell
Familiar Passions by Nina Bawden
Kingfishers Catch Fire by Rumer Godden
No Fond Return Of Love by Barbara Pym
Before Lunch by Angela Thirkell
The Return of the Soldier by Rebecca West

The poll will appear soon.

It looks like we have a draw.

So, if you haven't voted yet, please do it.

Or perhaps, someone would like to change the vote. (You can always do it as long as the poll is on - i.e. to the end of the month.)

If we don't get a winner, I am going to roll the dice.

Abigail Moreshead I just voted for High Rising. Sorry I had forgotten to vote before now!

Phew, I'm relieved we have a winner, as I purchased a copy, as I am rather interested in Angela Thirkell.

I picked Thirkell as I already own No Fond Return Of Love, although I felt as though I was being rather disloyal as I'm a member of the Barbara Pym Society.

I was biased towards the Thirkell choice because I already own a copy too :) (and it's been on my TBR list for ages)

Hermione Jane | 24 comments I’ve had a copy of wild strawberries and been meaning to read that for ages, so I’ve felt rather guilty about that too 😕

I have read 20 of 30 novels of the Barsetshire series. I am a big fan. Those of you who don't know Thirkell's world yet will love it - I am pretty sure ;-)

We have a winner.

In November we are going to read High Rising by Angela Thirkell.

message 16: by Hermione Jane (new)

Hermione Jane | 24 comments Wonderful, I'm so looking forward to reading this and I've also purchased the new biography. :)

message 17: by Tania (new)

Tania | 64 comments I might try to fit in a re-read, but it's going to be a busy month so I may just have to prioritise books I've not yet read.

I did love this one when I first read it, so I hope members here enjoy it.
