Lisa here...wrote about Victorian lit in both sessions of grad school. I like Victorian history in general too. Victober 2023 will be fun!
Hi! I'm Jassmine and this is going to be my second Victober. (I have to say that I'm not thrilled about the discord move just because GR is apparently the only platform that I check regularly, I tend to forget about the existence of the rest of the social media. But let's try this!)My last Victober plans didn't go that well, I think I actually only finished one of the books I planned in October, but I got to a lot of them throughout the year (just finished My Lady Ludlow few days ago), so in the end it was actually a success! I'm looking forward to participating again, even though once more I probably won't be able to finish too many books in October...

I think I've fixed the invite link here on Goodreads now - or go to one of the announcement videos and try going through the links in the descriptions, as people are getting through through there.

Hello from Rebecca. This will be my second Victober. My goal is to fit in one Victorian novel as I just started grad school. Is there a way for those of us who don't use most forms of social media besides Goodreads to more fully participate and see discussions?
Betty wrote: "I still cant get it to work. Ive never joined discord. Can I create an account and find the group?"Hi Betty, I got on Discord but can't figure it out and am really confuse by it all. I will still use this Goodreads group and i am sure there will be one or two others that will also. I don't understand how Discord is better.
I guess I will introduce myself on here and try to do it on Discord also. I am Theresa from Illinois and have been around Victober since the beginning. I actually found out about it through Ange's channel. I will read Victorian books this year but won't do any challenges (purposely) or the group read. I will comment on here for my TBR and Currently reading stuff.
Hi. I am Angela and have participated in Victober a few times now. I am planning to try to do so again, at least a little bit. I don't plan on using the Discord, however, I'll just post on here instead.
Hi, I am Linda and this will be my second Victober. By chance, the books I had selected for reading this Victober are perfectly matching the challenges :) I am looking forward to reading what everyone has picked here on Goodreads and will be posting here as well.
Hi everyone I love Victober and I look forward to the discussion. I live with my family in south Texas. I work a little, take care of the kids, and love to read.
hi everyone,I'm Zoë, I don't have discord so I'll be reading stuff on here and mostly doing my own thing! I'm 15 and I love Victorian literature (obviously) and hoping to fit some reading around revising for my GCSE mocks! Excited to discover some new Victorian literature this Victober!
'Ello, everyone! My name's Dickens. Well, not really. But that's my online pseudonym. And as you can probably guess from said pseudonym, I'm obsessed with books by Charles Dickens! The main thing on my bucket list is to finish all of his major works. And I'm almost done! So, it's kinda like Victober for me all year round.
And that's probably a good thing cause I need more than a month to read some of the larger books. Back in high school, I could finish a tome in less than a month, no problem. But now that I have a job and other responsibilities, it can be difficult. So, I might have to include a couple of books I've already begun before Victober started or might have to finish them in November.
But anyways. I can't wait to talk to some like-minded people with similar tastes. Hope everyone has a wonderful month of spookies!
Same on less time to read. I'm reading most of the British Novel curriculum from decades ago...but when I just had school to deal w/ I could get the novels read by the next class. By the time Victober starts, I should be reading on Wuthering Heights, then will start David Copperfield.
Hi, my name is Janice, and I have been a part of Victober for a few years. I always choose too many books to read, but there are so many I want to read; I guess I will have to join Victober for many more years! :) I always love the prompts and watching the hosts' videos for some book recommendations, which are the best as always! :)
Hello, my name is Juanita, and last year was my first Victober; although, i have always loved Victorian lit.I am currently reading (and thoroughly enjoying!) Katie's "Secrets of Hartwood Hall."
I am having trouble setting up an account with discord. What is the best way to communicate during the Victober event?
Barbara wrote: "I am having trouble setting up an account with discord. What is the best way to communicate during the Victober event?"A lot of us that were having trouble have been just hanging out here.
I am confused by it all.

I don't think you're alone in this, I'm not having technical issues with Discord but not keen to set up yet another online acct just for one month, plus Discord has had a bad reputation/lax security in the past, and a friend ended up with some nasty malware on her computer after using it.
Hello,I have Discord on my phone but I rarely check it as I don't know what I am doing.
I prefer Goodreads so I will be here more than there.

Thanks, I figured it out, somewhat, but like it here better.
HiI’m Paula from Cumbria, UK. This is my second Victober and I am keen to get started, as I’ve just finished reading the Booker Longlist and am ready for something completely different. I can access Discord but really don’t like it, so I’ll be here!

Glad your joining us Paula! There are more here than I thought would be.
Hello all, I'm RachelThis is I think my 2nd Victober... Or is it 3rd - when did we read 'Shirley' as the group read? Whenever that was that was my first Victober
Anyway - so for this year I am super busy. I'm getting married in November so won't have lots of time to dedicate to the challenges but I will aim to read along with the group read this year. Very excited for this one as it will be my first time reading Anthony Trollope. See you there on our readalong
Hello, I'm María from Spain, and this is my 4th Victober. Since I am still finishing my Jane Austen July, I only aim to read one book and haven't decided which one yet: The Woman in White, The Warden or Villette. I think I'll see which one fits more challenges and choose ;-)(I also accepted the Discord invite, although I hardly ever remember about it... so I'll probably check Goodreads more often.)
Hello everyone and Happy Victober! Susan from Germany here, looking forward to some exciting reads. I‘m starting off with Wuthering Heights , the Trollope group-read, and short stories from the collection “Women Who Did”. Happy reading!

Wonderful! Thank you!
Hi, I’m Lorri and this is my fourth Victober! This year I am too busy and too distracted to concentrate very well. So my TBR is scaled way back with mostly short pieces that meet several challenges.

Hi, I'm Gaby from Germany and this is my third Victober. I've written on Discord so far, but I wanted to comment on Agnes Grey, so here I am.
