As we continue on with Lala's Buzzwordathon we have reached the month of September with "game related words". Thank goodness King has been nice to us and gave us an easy read.
This month we are reading Gerald's Game. I have read this book and really enjoyed it. This story is about a married couple that goes off to a lake house for a weekend getaway. However like all King books something traumatic happens with a sprinkle of weird. If you have read Dolores Claiborne, she references the main character of Gerald's Game. I always like seeing easter eggs in King's stories. Makes me really pay attention to character names so I can see if they pop up in any other books. Lots of characters from Castle Rock are referenced when you pick up a book set in that town. For example Cujo and Needful Things. In Needful Things Cujo is talked about along with the current sheriff of that time. At 417 pages (mass market paperback) this story is definitely doable in a month if you read 14 pages a day.
This book also has a movie adaptation that came out a few years ago on Netflix. (Okay (2017) is a lot more than a few years ago. I feel like time is going ridiculously fast. ) Starring: Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood. You can still watch this movie on Netflix. It was 3.5 star for me. I'd have to watch it again to see if my feelings change.
Hope you are all doing well. These last four months of the year are always my favorite.
As always Happy Reading!
