Ellie finally came to terms with the fact that she wasn't really in love with the guy. Holding onto her martyr mantle wasn't healthy for her or her family. It showed real maturity to let it go. I'm not sure I could have done the same.
I relate to this story the same way you do, Anita.I think I may have been able to forgive my sister, but it would be painful beyond belief to stand up for her at her wedding. Ava did not change after she got the guy away from her sister -- she was a real b**ch.
I would not even attend the wedding if my sister was like that. The mother fed into the problem for some reason I don't understand. The parents made no sense to me. I have trouble relating to any of the family (except Annie) because they don't seem like they could possibly be how real people behave.
Ellie was a better person than me. I wouldn't have been in the wedding or been anywhere near it, especially with the way Ava was acting.
I'm not sure I could have gone or participated without giving myself an ulcer but I think Ellie was ready to move on and leave it all in the past. Maybe attending was some sort of closure for her.
