Hi everyone - so what are you reading this month?

I’m on Gods of the Wyrdwood and Demon in White atm!

✘✘ Sarah ✘✘ (former Nefarious Breeder of Murderous Crustaceans) (oosarahoo) | 13 comments I don't know about everyone else but I'll be reading The Words of Kings and Prophets pretty soon 😬.

Stephen Richter (stephenofskytrain) | 23 comments My September is filled with pre-orders. First up is Dragonfired the 3rd book in J. Zachary Pike's fabulously funny Dark Profit Saga. First book won SPFBO 4. Then come in A Sword of Bronze and Ashes by the Queen of Grimdark Anna Smith Spark, Then comes in 2 books I am really excited about, Shauna Lawless's The Words of Kings and Prophets (hooray, right! ) and Josiah Bancroft's The Hexologists. Josiah's Books of Babel series is one of my All-Time favorite fantasy series and I am ready for the new adventure. Finally the last day of the month I get the audiobook version of Anthony Ryan's newest novella in the Seven Swords series Across the Sorrow Sea. My September reading is going to be great.

I'm actually really excited about listening to the audiobook. I really enjoyed the narration for The Children of Gods and Fighting Men. Extra excited for book 2 now that I know there are 2 extra narrators this time!

Oh wow - this is a great TBR for September!! Anthony Ryan's novella series is going on my TBR list for 2024. They sound amazing. I also really want to to read The Hexologists

Oh that's great to know, I love multiple narrators! I might try to listen to the audio for my first reread 🤗.

Natasha (natashatsak) | 11 comments I'm reading Recursion by Blake Crouch. Still in the first couple of chapters but it's intriguing. I enjoyed Dark Matter, so let's see if this one is as good. I'm also listening to The Maleficent Seven by Cameron Johnston and really liking it. I love me some heroic villains! I hope I wrap it up by Sep 14 so that I can start the audiobook of The Words of Kings, which I have pre-ordered!

I'll also be starting the audiobook as soon as it lands. I'm so curious to hear what the new narrators sound like!

Hi everyone!

How has your reading gone! I’ve been very slow - but nearly finished Gods of the Wyrdwood now.

Give me your updates and recommendations!!

Good morning! Super excited to hear that you are almost done with Gods of the Wyrdwood, I love RJ Barker!! His wild imagination is just the best.

I just finished listening to Mammoths at the Gates by Nghi Vo and this is for sure my favourite novella in the Singing Hills Cycle so far, such a beautiful story!
And I recently read an ARC for The Erstwhile Tyler Kyle (coming out on October 13th), which is a queer adult horror comedy that I'd highly recommend to check out this spooky season!

Happy reading everyone :)

Paula | 37 comments I'm reading Godkiller into October... I haven't finished it yet, but I hope to give it a sprint tomorrow.

Happy weekend and farewell September. You've been way too hot

Natasha (natashatsak) | 11 comments Well, I finished Recursion which I enjoyed and which also made me think a lot about regret and second chances. I also finished Lucky or Unlucky:13 Stories of Fate which was very interesting and had some really good stories (Mark Lawrence's among them, a fave). Now I'll start the first book in the Ranger's Apprentice series, because I promised my son. I'm also listening to The Words of Kings, of course, which is a-ma-zing and I don't want it to end! So, so good!I paused The Arm of the Sphinx for it, which I will pick up again later.

Stephen Richter (stephenofskytrain) | 23 comments I finished Claire North's Ithaca and House of Odysseus, which was fabulous, If you are a fan of Madeline Miller's Circe these are some new books to put on your TBR.

I loved the first novella in Nghi Vo's series - I wasn't so struck on the second one. I'd glad to hear the third one is your favourite. I'm definitely going to pick up

Yay - I'm so glad you are enjoying the audiobook - I've been listening to it too - it's so weird listening to be words being spoken to me, but the narrators are doing such a good job!!

I was really slow in September too but read some pretty fantastic books so I guess I can't complain 😁. I loved The Words of Kings, obviously, but also Talonsister. Jen Williams always creates fascinating, original worlds and her characters are as diverse as they are engaging, and brilliantly written. (I highly recommend both this book and her Winnowing Flame trilogy).

I read Servant of the Underworld at the beginning of the month and it was SO good! Historical fantasy set in the capital of the Aztec Empire, what's not to love about that?!

Wow - this is some TBR!! Lots of great books on it too. I read Dune before the movie came out but might read it again before part II of the movie is out. Also - what Brandon Sanderson are you catching up on. I haven't read any of the secret project stuff - but Yumi does look intriguing.

I was on a panel with Jen Williams at FantasyCon - and Talonsister sounded amazing. It's on my Christmas present list.
And i have not heard of Servant of the Underworld - but now I've looked it up, it does sound amazing. I shall be adding that to the TBR too!

Tom (desolation73) | 5 comments I have only read Tress so far out of the secret projects. But have previously read Elantis, warbreaker and both eras of Mistborn. Next year I want to read the stormlight Archive ready for volume 5.
