I love your character references. Very interesting. Now let me tell you some of my favorite characters: Harry Potter - the main character, John Smith (Number 4) - I am number four, Katniss from the Hunger Games and a character I liked too - James Hoover from the novel „The Touch” by Cliff Azaria. I look forward to other comments

LiteraryCryptid | 60 comments I have waaay to many favourite characters, and it's hard to pick just one. There are some I relate to more, and others I like for just being themselves, and others that I like because I hate them (the villain you just can't help but love). . . . But I'll try for a short list. . .

Murtagh from Eragon - Just for the challenges he faced and his development.
Murderbot - All Systems Red - I actually had a friend say this book/character was %100 me, and I totally get it. I love Murderbot with an insane amount of heart.
Catti-Bri - Streams of Silver - tough gal with a bow, my spirit human
Thursday Next - The Eyre Affair - She is a tough cookie and takes no nonsense. . Plus a pet dodo and that's just cute
Hermione - Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone - Mainly when I was younger
Luna - Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone - I relate way more to her now
. . . This could become a very, very long list

Sunae | 8 comments Hmmmm, hmmmmmmmmm. Im not sure.
I wanna ignore comics for once, but whos left?
Hercule Poirot, and Miss Marple are very enjoyable Charakters, but dont have any deeper Philisophy I could relate to.
I do like Sherlock Holmes, hes kind, and relatable, but I fear its a bit of a easy Answer.
Vules Verne genuinly has zero good Charakters. He had one, or two Comic Relife Charakters, but there have so little Integrity, it disgusts me.
You know what, Mina Harker was pretty cool. I choose her.
Proto Feminist Icon.

Anirudh Kukreja (anirudhkukreja) | 62 comments Always a competition between Sherlock Holmes and Poirot coz while the pacing of the former is better; Poirot is more relatable as he relies more on human behavior/psychology whereas Holmes' deductions are more... factual (if that makes sense) in nature

Michael Sullivan from The Road to Perdition. Of course, this is a movie, but I figured it would be an interesting character to mention anyway (I guess it was a graphic novel originally). I love the complexity of the story which surrounds this character. His arc is interesting, complex, and complete while intertwining beautifully with his son's arc, Michael Sullivan Jr. His sacrifice for his son at the end is a beautiful double fulfillment.

General Zaroff from The Most Dangerous Game is currently on my mind because his character is so intriguing. While his internal motivation was certainly not explored deeply in the length of the short story, I think he may be an idea/character worth exploring more deeply in a longer form. I'd love to know if this has been done!

Ann wrote: "Frankenstein's creation from Frankenstein and Sibling Dex from A Psalm for the Wild-Built"

Ann, I am currently reading Frankenstein for the first time! What an interesting book! At times, it borders on escape fiction with its long, (possibly) unnecessary descriptions and its story within a story within a story... But overall, I find the exploration of character deeply affecting. The motivations of the characters are laid plain in a direct and careful manner. I especially appreciate that about it.

What about Frankenstein's Creation did you enjoy? Why is he one of your favorites? I found him a bit contrived and unbelievable; like he was a human in disguise and not a hideous new monster. Alas, that may be my modern mind corrupting another wonderful piece of beautiful literature. What do you think?

Bill Mock Serge and Coleman in the Tim Dorsey books

message 31: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Cecil | 288 comments Kendra Michaels from Iris Johansens books. She is a strong female main character. She has been through so much in her life, but she has overcame it all. She takes the hard jobs even when she knows it will take so much from her.

Eve Duncan another strong female main character. Eve became a forensic sculpture to try to bring home the dead to give people closer. She done this because he own daughter Bonnie was kidnapped at a young age and the police never found her body, therefore they're no closer for Eve. She is sure Bonnie is dead so each child they find Eve wonders will this be her Bonnie's skull she is recreating. These books are also by Iris Johansen.

message 32: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Cecil | 288 comments Evelyn Talbot is another strong female character. She was kidnapped by her boyfriend who also had her best friend. She had to watch him torment and kill her best friend. Later Evelyn escapes seems to be finally getting herself together when He Is Back. Evelyn works at a prison for the criminally insane trying so hard to figure out what makes these people kill and even become serial killers. She has to understand where their minds go that far gone.
