A novel written in "epistolary form" is one that's written in the form of assembled bits of other media -- letters, news articles, diary entries, chat transcripts, etc. It's a creative way to tell a story!

Jen W. (piratenami) Sorcery & Cecelia: or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot is the first one that comes to mind. It actually started out as a letter game between the two authors.
