Welcome to Team Rock, please introduce yourself and drop a link to your Wheel shelf. Be back later with a proper introduction. 😊
Ah! There you are. What a dreadful word we have to begin with.My shelf is wheels
I'm in Australia & Rock is my favourite. I read many genres but probably more crime/thriller/mystery than anything else.
Hi all, I’m Louise your Captain for this musical journey along with your Co-caps Karen snd Keely. I live in South Wales along with my boyfriend and 2 dogs. I enjoy a wide range of music although I am partial to Queen and Bon Jovi.I will read pretty much anything to fit a challenge although I tend to steer clear of Horror if I can help it.
Hi everyone! I'm Vikki from Northern Ireland. This is the perfect time for me as I love rock music. It's really hard to pick a favourite but I'm going to say Def Leppard. I've seen them in Belfast twice - 1st time Alice Cooper & Thin Lizzy were supporting, second time they co-headlined with Whitesnake. I've quite wide tastes with the broad rock genre.
Music is also a good theme as I play the bagpipes :)
Onto books.... my favourite genres tend to be crime & thriller but I also read fantasy, paranormal, historical fiction, chick lit etc. As we approach the end of this challenge I'll probably be onto Christmas books, but there a few Christmas books on my radar so it's not all chick lit!
My shelf is Wheel8
Hello all!I am Keely, one of your co-captains. This is my first time being a co-captain for Wheel so please be patient with me.
I live in the UK, but I currently work nights so I will mostly be around at the same time as you Australians. I've been at this job for 2 weeks (after I signed up) so I'm still getting use to it. I will be able to listen to audio books while I work which is a bonus so I should be able to help pick up the slack if anyone is struggling, but I will mainly be focusing on longer books for bigger points!
I don't play any instruments, although I wish I did. I'm not the biggest Rock fan, but I listen to such a variety of music that rock comes up occasionally.
I will read almost any book (or at least try) especially if it is for a challenge. I tend to enjoy books which a bit of mystery or adventure in them more than others.
I can't link my wheel shelf at the moment as I am on my phone, sorry.
Hi, I'm Fiona and I'm from Germany :) I love rock music (no artist in particular though) but then again I love almost all genres.
My favorite genres are romance and mysteries but I'm down to read anything, preferably something I don't have to buy specifically, so basically anything I already have at home or can get from my library or audiobook subscriptions. I'm very excited about this challenge!
My shelf is nbrc-wheel
Oh yeah, I also found 3 books with white covers on my TBR list (1 I'm not sure is white enough though), so my first book will probably be one of those and I have spare in case we struggle to find enough.
Hello everyone,I live in the Pacific Northwest, just north of Seattle, US. Previously lived north of Dallas/Fort Worth in Texas. I am originally from Flanders, in Belgium. English is my 3rd language, so I also read in Flemish/Dutch and French.
In fiction I read mostly mystery, fantasy and scifi. Non-fiction runs to sciences ( mostly mathematics, computer science, security), and history; also biographies particularly scientists and women in science and history.
My favorite music genres are classical (all genres), opera, as well as folk music and chanson. But I'll like rock for this wheel :).
Besides reading and family, I love to spend time with ballet and tennis.
This is my first time participating in Wheel. Looking forward to this challenge. My shelf is wheels-8-23.
Hi everyone, Good to see familiar faces and some new ones. I'm from NSW in Australia, and spend my time between Sydney and our dairy farm in southern NSW. Mum of 3 and Nanna of 6 which keep me very busy.
I love Team Challenges and can get very enthusiastic about searching, pretty much will read anything to fit a task, and boy I've read some duds! But its all part of the fun.
Apart from my family and reading my other passion is travelling. Next year I've got trips to Norway and Japan planned which are both new destinations and can't wait.
I love ROCK and especially power ballads of the 80's and 90's much to my family's horror, LOL. The last show I went to was Queen featuring Adam Lambert pre covid which was amazing.
My favourite Rock songs are Sweet Child O Mine by Guns N Roses, Living on a Prayer, Bon Jovi, Gone Away, Offspring and favourite song of all time is Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. And guilty pleasure is Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler. (My family won't let me live that one down!)

I had a look and I'm a bit light on white covers. A few of them looked white till I ran them through Tin Eye and they came up as grey.
Wille there be a planning page or sheet where we can list the books we have in mind? Or do we just post that here?

What great song choices!! I love them all too.
Norway & Japan are both on my travel wishlist. This year I went to Croatia & Poland, Italy is already booked for 2024.
Good morning all
So lovely to see you all - some new faces and some old friends!
I’m from Sydney, Australia where I run my own consulting business and I have two kids who are just this week turning 8 and 11.
I used to read a lot but these days it is more audio in-between other things and my kindle if I happen to be commuting into the city. Since COVID I don’t do that as much - most of our clients now prefer remote support. I did take an office space in 2021 as I got sick of working from home but if I go there I drive as it isn’t too far (and has free EV charging) or I ride my bicycle so only audiobooks for that commute!!
I read everything other than horror and I don’t typically read straight out romance. Like Lisa I enjoy the hunt for a book in challenges, though and have read some interesting ones over the years!!
Our team band was my choice (mod powers 😂) and I thought I’d go with a rock band with a Eurovision tie as that is my second great love of music haha. Growing up I loved the 80s/90s long hair rock like Poison, GNR, etc. my first ever concert was Alice Cooper!
My last concert was a while ago as it is hard with kids! Probably about 6 years ago and was Serj Tankian and possibly the best one I saw was when pregnant with my first child and it was Lenny Kravitz supported by The Cranberries (🥲) and Wolfmother. It was incredible!!
Oh and my guilty pleasure is Alone by Heart 🥰😊

Alice Cooper, Poison, GnR, they're all on my list of great bands. And I do like Alone by Heart as well.
My last concert was June 2018 to see Avenged Sevenfold.
I’ve not heard of them Vikki (but I’m so out of date with music!!) I’m playing them on my Amazon music app now. Can totally imagine that being a great concert!
Karen ⊰✿ wrote: "I’ve not heard of them Vikki (but I’m so out of date with music!!) I’m playing them on my Amazon music app now. Can totally imagine that being a great concert!"I discovered them through a friend at uni, back about 2005. It was a great concert!

OMG.. That's another of my favourites.. even the Celine Dion version. About 10-15 years ago my husband surprised me with tickets to go see her which must have been love as he's not a fan! She can oversing at times but boy did she belt out that song. It was amazing.
Looks like a lot of us are on the same page with long hair 80's rock. 💕
Hi Team, great to see some familiar names again. I'm in Canberra, I play classical clarinet player in a community orchestra and smaller ensembles, my husband is a jazz drummer but can play pretty much any style, son is a freelance bass player in Sydney also very versatile and his wife is a singer. Not sure how that will help! hahaha. I read a lot though which is more useful here.
My first rock concert was many many decades ago. The Aussies will probably know this band. I saw The Easybeats when I was at high school.
We're not massive rock fans, lean more towards jazz/blues/soul/ Latin but one of the best more recent shows we went to was Bonnie Raitt. Love her, and we saw James Taylor around the same time. Have tickets for Harry Connick Jr in December. He's great. Saw him years ago and loved him then.
I'm looking forward to another team challenge. I have a white cover I need to read for an other challenge so will kick off with this.
This my shelf https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Wow, Elisabeth, The Easybeats. Aussie Rock pioneers. Who doesn't love Friday on my Mind. When I was in high school we had INXS play right at the beginning of their career. Some great artists there, when we're in Norway next year there is a Blues festival in Trondheim which my husband is really looking forward to. He leans more to the Blues and Soul.

I've been to Trondheim many times (although mostly just at the airport in transit). For those that don't know, my boyfriend is Norwegian and my plan is to eventually move to Norway. Trondheim is the nearest big city to where he lives and his work took us there for there Christmas party the other year. It would have been nice to have had more time to sightsee. The cathedral is worth seeing, but I did only see it from the outside in the dark.
All these concerts and travel plans! I don’t even remember what concert I went last to. It was definitely before Covid but I can’t tell what it was lol
My first concert ever was P!nk though and that was really really awesome!
Keely, I’m with you on the moving to another country because your boyfriend is from there part but mine is from India so it’s reallyyyy far away haha
Now is probably a good time to point out that I have never been to a concert... Fiona, oh yeah that is far. How is the flight/s? Because of where my boyfriend lives, I usually end up getting 3 flights (the longest being about 2 hours) unless I travel a bit further in the UK then I can get it down to 2. Because I'm paranoid about missing flights because of delays, I always leave lots of time between flights so the travel basically takes me a whole day.
Keely wrote: "Now is probably a good time to point out that I have never been to a concert’
😳😬
Why is that? Opportunity not there or just no interest?
😳😬

@Keely I take two flights which are of around 3 and 6 hours plus whatever the layover time is so it’s a bit longer. I was there in September and the layover in Abu Dhabi was almost 8 hours
@Karen it just never really happened. I've never really known who I would want to see. Also, I'm not very good with crowds and loud noises so that has also put me off. @Fiona that could be worse, but could also be better. I had a long wait at Oslo once. I don't remember how long but I think it was somewhere between 8 and 10 hours. I remember the time going quicker than I thought it would. I think I even found a comfy seating area and had a nap. I hope you are able to make your move soon (or as soon as you want to do it).
@Keely For me it was hell actually because it was in the evening/night and I was so tired but I didn’t want to sleep because I didn’t want anything to happen to me or my bag haha
Moving definitely isn’t planned in the near future but I’m sure someday it will happen! And I hope the same for you of course :)
Hi all! Nice to see some familiar faces. I'm Silje, from Norway, currently working as a dental hygienist, though I did work a few years in a bookshop.@Keely, despite living in Norway (close to Bergen), I've never been in Trondheim=P I want to travel there some day, I've heard only nice things.
I like listening to rock, some of the classics are really good, but pop-rock is probably more my style.
My favourite reading genres are romance, fantasy, and thrillers, but I dabble in almost every other genre, especially during these challenges. I'm a mood reader, so haven't planned what book I'll start with.

Hi Silje, lovely to be on a team again with you. What are the things to do in Bergen in April? We have a couple of days to get from Oslo to Bergen before getting on the ferry.

It depends on how active you want to be. There are many nice hikes up the mountains surrounding Bergen. Or you can take the cable car to Ulriken or Fløibanen funicular to Fløyen and walk back down. There are some museums and an aquarium. Bryggen and the fish market are popular attractions, as well as the stave church nearby.
