Drace (dracenines) | 7924 comments The first English hardcover release of The Feast of the Goat by Mario Vargas Llosa (ISBN: 9780374154769) has incorrect cover art that seems to be a pre-release version of the book.

If you Google Image search the hardcover art, you can see that rather than black text on a yellow background, it has red text on a tan background. The red text/tan background also appears on the original archived version of the publisher's website from the early 2000s, just a couple years after it was published. Here is an archived version: https://web.archive.org/web/200308300... I can also confirm that the red text/tan background version is the correct version, because my local library has a copy of this edition. I can post a picture if needed.

Additionally, I have only been able to find the yellow background/black text version in two places: An Ebay listing for a pre-release advance readers copy of the book (https://www.ebay.com/itm/166313279975), and the Kirkus Reviews website, which seems to be where Goodreads has pulled the cover art from (https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-re... - notice the reflection of a light on the M in Mario - it matches). Because this cover art isn't accurate, could somebody please change it to this correct cover art from Abebooks? https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/Book...

If needed, I can also try to make a scan of the book cover at the library.

Thank you for your assistance.

Dobby (dobby0390) | 7968 comments Good research. Because the edition with the black text has been identified as an Advance Reader Copy, I identified it as such on the GR edition:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9...

I created a new edition for the published edition, with the red text and ISBNs:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
