never been down to New Boston, I was from Cleveland. Southern Ohio right? Sounds nice.

message 35: by Heather (new)

Heather Porter | 29 comments Yes, It's Southern Ohio. We are right on the river. New Boston is a small town next to Portsmouth, Ohio. We are 4 hours from Cleveland. My husband and I travel to Cleveland quite often!! We go there for concerts and comedy shows. I love Cleveland!!

message 38: by Robert (new)

Robert Roberts (goodreadscomrobertroberts) I sat up a Wal-mart store in Marietta, Ohio years ago. Small town, but with quite an eerie history of ghosts and haunting's.

message 39: by Heather (new)

Heather Porter | 29 comments We have a varied history of ghosts and haunting's, as well. A lot of the older buildings have secret tunnels, and they have false walls and things. Every year there is a ghost walk, and tours of the old lofts and basements of some of the buildings. It's a super creepy area, but I love it! I also live in one of the oldest funeral parlors in the town. The house I am in is considered the "paupers parlor", it was where the men working in the steel mill, the Ohio River bargemen, and the railroad workers were brought to be kept until a family member claimed them. There is a big picture window in my living room where the bodies were laid so traveling families could come up on the porch and identify them, when they arrived in town. I have pictures of caskets in front of my fireplace. Don't even get me started on my basement!!!! There was a bigger, nicer funeral home next door for the more prominent families. It burned to the ground when I was 10, I now own the land for it as well.

Brecksville is NE region, next to North Royalton, Strongsville, Seven Hills.
OMG that sounds amazing where you live Heather.

We also have a lot of homes in my neighborhood that had secret tunnels that were used for the underground railroad(helping escaping slaves, that's just in case you didn't know what Underground Railroad was).

How many Walmart stores did you set up Robert? Are or were you a contractor? Or just a very wealthy man that owns all these Walmarts?

message 42: by Robert (new)

Robert Roberts (goodreadscomrobertroberts) No I worked in the store planning division for Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas. I set up new stores in about all the states and several foreign countries. Retired in 2000.

Okay! I know that area! We usually stay in Strongsville or Parma, when we go to Cleveland.

We have the underground tunnels, as well, especially by our boat landing area. It's super neat to tour them!!

When I was little, I was scared to death of my house! As an adult, I appreciate it so much. The house has been in my family since my grandmother was 3. The original owners initials are still on the fireplace grate, and on the pocket doors too. I love the character and the history! Some of my friends are creeped out though! I just tell them, if you are nice to them (whatever they are), they will be nice to you! Lol

I read this question once on a Canadian website where the woman from England asked
I have never seen it warm on Canadian TV, so how do the plants grow?
I had to reply sarcastically (couldn't help myself)
They import all plants fully grown and then just sit around and watch them die.
