Drace (dracenines) | 7606 comments The upcoming horror novel A Haunting in Hialeah Gardens by Raul Palma has some cleanup work to be done on its various editions.

1. Hardcover: A Haunting in Hialeah Gardens (ISBN 9780593472118)

- The description is missing formatting and has skipped a few words. The actual description should read as follows:
A genre-bending debut with a fiercely political heart, A Haunting in Hialeah Gardens explores the weight of the devil’s bargain, following the lengths one man will go to for the promise of freedom.

Hugo Contreras’s world in Miami has shrunk. Since his wife died, Hugo’s debt from her medical bills has become insurmountable. He shuffles between his efficiency apartment, La Carreta (his favorite place for a cafecito), and a botanica in a strip mall where he works as the resident babaláwo.

One day, Hugo’s nemesis calls. Alexi Ramirez is a debt collector who has been hounding Hugo for years, and Hugo assumes this call is just more of the same. Except this time Alexi is calling because he needs spiritual help. His house is haunted. Alexi proposes a deal: If Hugo can successfully cleanse his home before Noche Buena, Alexi will forgive Hugo’s debt. Hugo reluctantly accepts, but there’s one issue: Despite being a babaláwo, he doesn’t believe in spirits.

Hugo plans to do what he’s done with dozens of clients before: use sleight of hand and amateur psychology to convince Alexi the spirits have departed. But when the job turns out to be more than Hugo bargained for, Hugo’s old tricks don’t work. Memories of his past—his childhood in the Bolivian silver mines and a fraught crossing into the United States as a boy—collide with Alexi’s demons in an explosive climax.

Equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking, A Haunting in Hialeah Gardens explores questions of visibility, migration, and what we owe—to ourselves, our families, and our histories.

2. Kindle Edition: A Haunting in Hialeah Gardens: A Novel (ASIN B0BRMBLG3L)

- The same description issue is present. The description needs to be the same as the above hardcover edition.

- "A Novel" needs to be removed from the title.

===

3. Blank Edition: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

This edition is missing almost all of its data. I think the best approach here would be to add the details of the ebook information to this page since the ebook is not yet on Goodreads and otherwise this edition would just have to be deleted. Missing e-book information is as follows:

ISBN: 9780593472125
PUBLISHER: Dutton
FORMAT: Ebook
EDITION LANGUAGE: English

===

4. Spanish-Language Edition: Un fantasma en Hialeah Gardens / A Haunting in Hialeah Gardens (ISBN 9781644737521)

- I'm not entirely sure what the policy on non-English titles is, but I'm fairly sure that the English title needs to be removed from the Spanish title.

- The cover art is missing. It can be found on the publisher's website: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/bo...

- The publisher's website includes both the Spanish language description and an English translation of the Spanish description. Should these both be included? Either way, it's missing formatting, so once I have an answer I'll add the corrections that need to be made.

The audiobook edition(s) still need to be added to the site. I'll add them to this thread later today.

Liralen | 8268 comments Done (including Spanish formatting).

There's no prohibition that I know of on multi-language descriptions, but since that particular edition seems to be just in Spanish (and there are other English descriptions), there's no need for it.

Thank you for the help. In the time since I made this post I also found that there's a Spanish Kindle edition that 1. is separate from the other editions 2. has the Spanish ebook edition ISBN. I'm going to contact Goodreads support about removing the ISBN. In the meantime, audiobook information will be below.

Drace (dracenines) | 7606 comments Goodreads staff corrected the issues with the Spanish language edition and they can now be taken care of:

7. Spanish-Language Ebook Edition: Un fantasma en Hialeah Gardens / A Haunting in Hialeah Gardens (ISBN 9781644737538)

- The book is mistakenly labeled as a hardcover edition. This is an ebook.

- This is listed as a separate book from the other editions and it needs to be combined.

- The English title needs to be removed from the title field.

- The description is missing formatting and paragraph breaks; it should match the description for the Spanish paperback edition.

- Castilian needs to be removed from the Languages field.

Liralen | 8268 comments 4.5, 4.6, 5.7, 5.8 done. The language for the Spanish editions is set as "Spanish", which I think the GR system reads as Castilian.

Hi, Drace.
Any chance you'll have time and move all your threads (which were already marked as Complete) into a folder "Archive"?

It will really help to clean this folder - Looking for a Project?
so Librarians will work easier on uncompleted tasks yet.

Thank you in advance.
