Jayme | 4574 comments Please read through the reporting thread carefully to ensure to report correctly to get your badge/s.

After you have read your chosen book(s) for this month's group theme read, please report in the thread below.

Please state what book you read (and link it), how it fits the theme, that you discussed it (and where), and briefly summarize what you thought of the book and/or link to your review if you have written one.

If you lead the discussion, please state this in your post.

Here is an example for how to report your read:

“I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and discussed it in the [Harry Potter/Buddy Read/Other books in theme] thread. I really enjoyed the book. I watched the film first so I already knew the story line but I was surprised how much I enjoyed the book more as there was more detail involved. Plus I listened to the audio which was narrated by Stephen Fry who is a superb narrator. 4 stars.”

If you read more than one book which fits the theme, please report all your reads in the same post rather than in separate posts.

Please note, there are THREE different badges that can be obtained for group reads. Those reading and discussing one of the two chosen group reads will receive a colorful badge similar to those for previous group reads. Those reading and discussing any other book in the theme will receive a stamp. The discussion leader for the two chosen group reads will receive a badge stating they led the discussion. Maximum amount of badges you can receive for the group reads is TWO - one for the chosen group read/discussion leader and one for any other book in the theme.

In order to receive a badge you must:
1. put your Wall of Fame Name at the beginning of your post as follows: WoF Name - Sandra
2. have read the book(s) before or during October 2023.
3. discussed it in the relevant thread. Discussion must be more than "I read the book and I liked it". Discussion requires something more substantial and analytical of what you read, for example, thoughts, opinions, impact it had on you, what was your favorite part, was it what you expected it to be like etc. You may also like to review the book and post a link to the review in that thread.
4. Report that you have read AND discussed the book.

I read We Have Always Lived in the Castle and discussed it in the group thread. It was my first Shirley Jackson book and gave it three stars. She has another book The Lottery which critics ( that I read) seem to think is her best work so I may give that a try. I liked her writing style enough to give another book a go.

Katrisa | 4501 comments I read We Have Always Lived in the Castle and discussed it in the thread. This is a reread for me. I have read it a few times but I love Shirley Jackson. I gave this one 4 stars. I enjoy her writing and how she highlights human nature.

I read The Great Catsby and discussed it in the allocated thread. I enjoyed Chonks, the cat, the most in this story. I didn't think this was a great story. Cozy mysteries are a hit or miss for me.

I read and discussed We Have Always Lived in the Castle. I enjoyed the overall eerie atmosphere but did not get the overarching themes of the book. I rated it 3 stars. Plotwise, it was not great but the writing was good!

I read The Great Catsby by B.K. Baxter and discussed it in the thread. I actually liked how the title of the book and the book club reading selection were tied together with her cat, but that was about it. It was a very disjointed book with a pushy MC who just made me keep rolling my eyes at her behavior.

I've read The Great Catsby by B.K. Baxter and was the discussion leader in the thread.
I've read some cozy mysteries with cats in it, but this one felt like a miss for me. I thought that Chonks would have a bigger role/more chapters, but he got only 3 chapters. There was lots in the story that didn't connected and also the name confusion 'Tabby - Tammy' made it at moments hard to focus.

I read and discussed We Have Always Lived in the Castle. I rated it 3 stars. I loved the writing but I did not love the ending. The ending left me with more questions and I would have loved a better/spookier plot.

I read We Have Always Lived in the Castle with the group. I love Shirely Jackson's storytelling but I could have liked more horror in this one. Still, the plot kept me guessing and I loved all our main characters and loved to hate the rest of the cast.

I read and discussed We Have Always Lived in the Castle with the group. I am a Shirley Jackson fan. I enjoyed this book very much and still go over it in my head. The characters were quite memorable and poignant. I gave this book 5 stars although it was hard going at times. It is a book that makes you think on many levels.

I read We Have Always Lived in the Castle. It's been on my reading list for a long time so glad to pick this one up in October. I discussed it with the group. Overall, I liked the intrigue and the fit of the characters. There was a lot of reading between the lines as I went along. The plot was very interesting to me, how could somebody kill somebody else. It's unfathomable!

I was the discussion leader for We Have Always Lived in the Castle. I read and discussed this book in the relevant thread.
I rated this book as a 4 star read. I am pleased to have read this book, but found the ending disappointing.

I read The Great Catsby and discussed it in the designated thread. It was ok. Pretty standard cozy mystery stuff, but I love cozies. The cat was my favorite character by far. I wasn't a fan of how the main character seemed pretty oblivious the whole book. I gave it 2 stars.

I read The Great Catsby and discussed in the designated thread. I also thought it was just ok. I found the MC to be pushy and can't imagine anyone would respond to her by giving her any of the information she was seeking.

I read The Great Catsby and added to its thread. I enjoyed the cat character and not a lot more. I think it may have had more potential if there were fewer authors in the group? There seemed to be to many inconsistencies in the story and character development.
