I loved this book! I was hanging on every word. 5 stars. The few minor things that were issues for me:
-A conflict/mystery was repeated. A woman was being held against her will by a man at the beginning. Then later this was the case again in the asylum. I was disappointed with the lack of variety, but I understand that the author was highlighting the prevalence of such cases of the time period.
-A method of infiltration was repeated with the pretending to be someone else.
That's just me being nitpicky. I loved the audiobook narrator, the prose, the characterization, the pacing, and the romance. I highly recommend this one and am looking forward with great anticipation to the rest of the series that hasn't been published yet! :(

Great points! Yeah, I think you're probably right. It was common to have women held against their will or even locked up for no reason whatsoever.
And here's to hoping for more books in the series soon!
Update: I've been recommending this book to everyone. It was my favorite read of 2023! I hyped it up to my local book club, they voted for it, and we'll be reading/discussing it later this quarter. Thanks again for recommending this gem!
