I felt sympathetic towards her from the beginning even though she was an annoying character. Here was a person who had been fucked over by everybody from day one. Its not surprising that she had some pretty sharp edges. I don't think she was crazy like a fox but she had to learn some unusual life skills in order to survive and thrive.
I was sympathetic. The idea of a woman being used as a pawn by all of the men in her life really really got my back up. I didn't think she was crazy, I thought she was coping with her situation fairly.
Her behavior was so over the top initially that I was irritated with her, though sympathetic to how she was horribly used by those who should have been protecting her. When she revealed to Kate that she pretended to be dumber to these jerks so they had low expectations of her, I started thinking she was "crazy like a fox," out thinking her father and baby daddies.
Although Desandra was a total b*tch, I really couldn't help feeling sorry for her. She is a political pawn used by men who are supposed to love and care for her but only see her as a breed mare and a means to an end. Considering this, she may even have been well behaved. Her crazy act was definitely a ruse to protect herself from those who would do her harm. Actually, she's quite smart.
