Ann (annrumsey) | 17031 comments With great anticipation for the discussions, our October / November group read book is Robert Galbraith's The Running Grave.
No spoilers please on this topic thread - are you planning on reading the book?

Ann (annrumsey) | 17031 comments For the spoilers welcome discussions: since there are 9 parts and 136 chapters, I am going to try grouping as Parts 1-3 (ch 1-51) Parts 4-6 (ch 52-89) and Parts 7-9 (ch 90-133) plus the Epilogue (ch 134-136)

Sybotes | 142 comments Thank you Ann - and welcome back all JKR fans!

For my taste I'd prefer smaller groupings, so we can start discussing after, say, the first 100 pages already without spoilering. But we'll see. Last time we had something like "spoiler warning ch. 32" in the headline of our postings, that's fine for me, too.

Hope we will have many participants and no "Anomie" who wears the solution in their user name.

Ann (annrumsey) | 17031 comments Sybotes: I could break up the first three parts! It would allow for us to start with part one as a jump start. Good suggestion!
I was using an Amazon Kindle sample with a table of contents to see the chapters. The lengths were not available in that method. I know I am listening to the audible audio and am torn deciding if I need the Kindle or hard cover as well. I’m checking the library lucky day shelf this weekend just in case a hardback might be there.

Sybotes | 142 comments In my paperback (Sphere, ISBN 9781408730959) it's as follows:
Prologue page 1
Part 1 (ch 1 - 19) page 19
Part 2 (ch 20 - 36) page 165
Part 3 (ch 37 - 51) page 297
Part 4 (ch 52 - 64) page 393
Part 5 (ch 65 - 77) page 493
Part 6 (ch 78 - 89) page 581
Part 7 (ch 90 - 100) page 637
Part 8 (ch 101 - 121) page 725
Part 9 (ch 122 - 133) page 865
Epilogue (ch 134 - 136) page 925
The End page 945

Ann (annrumsey) | 17031 comments Sybotes: Thanks for the pages lined up with the chapters, I see you posted on the part 1-3 spoilers welcome thread, and added a summary too (great!) so I may see what you think now before splitting it into part one separately. I saw how you posted at the top of the spoilers noting which chapter you are up to - I hope that works ok for folks.
I think I am going to have to spring for the Kindle version too to supplement the audio. I mentioned I have the Kindle sample and it is more extensive that a "look inside the book" excerpt usually were so I am getting hooked on having both!

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9537 comments I just picked up the hardcover from the library - what a BFB that is, where does she get the ideas?!? I'm torn bec I need to start it right away as it surely will not be renewable after three weeks, but I also have Judgment Prey by John Sandford which is the same predicament. I also have to decide about audible credits; I have one I have to use by 10/11 and I enjoy listening to both on audio. Decisions, decisions!

Sybotes | 142 comments Hi Carol. Glad somebody joins us here. I don't ask the question anymore: where does she get the ideas? It's a never draining well.

I am looking forward to your comments. There are so many events and persons there, hard to keep track of all of them - so it will really help to see what people think when they first encounter them.

Don't hesitate to look into the threads. In every comment, we wrote in the headline how far thr information goes, so you can open them without fear of being spoilered inadvertently.

Ann (annrumsey) | 17031 comments Carol: sounds like you need more than one credit!
I am partially reading on Kindle and mostly listening with an audible credit. I am enjoying both methods.
and I went ahead and borrowed The Last Devil to Die to be able to slide right into it when this bfb is finished, so I get being torn about the new Prey book.
