Here's the glitch:
When you go to a thread, almost all the posts are marked as "new". After marking all posts "read", they still come back as "new" the next time you open a group discussion page. GR is aware of the problem. The more times it is reported may speed-up a fix. Until then, you can check the 'last updated' message.

Yes, it's very annoying. Wonder what happened a week ago or should I say I wonder what they did a week ago that triggered the mess.

Yes, I noticed that glitch and just threw my hands up in the air. I feel I'm cheating when I keep changing it. I've since given up. When I'm long gone and dead, it is a small matter after all.

Crossing fingers and hoping but it looks like read showing as unread is maybe fixed. Every comment I looked at showed as read and stayed that way in several discussions in three groups. The threads with long list of unread showed read once I opened thread.

ETA: Well, it's not working perfectly but it seems not as bad as it was.
