I watched Marlowe on Amazon Prime. It is based on the book The Black-Eyed Blonde by Benjamin Black a pen name of John Banville. I liked the movie and thought that it was true to the book. My review of the book https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It was filmed in Spain and Ireland.

I have been watching the American Revolution on PBS. I strongly recommend it. I visited 2 of the battlefields mentioned in episode 6. See my review of Partisans and Redcoats: The Southern Conflict That Turned the Tide of the American Revolution

I did a travelogue about my trip visiting these battlefields and other places. See https://www.vermontbridges.org/cb_tou...

Hi Mary, lovely to meet you! 👋
Always great to see another reader from Northern Ireland here.

Since you enjoy most genres, you might like two memoirs I’ve recently read by Sheila P. Kelly. There Is No Flag Worth Dying For is a powerful, human look at life during the Troubles, and her newest one, Whiskey In The Tae, is full of warmth, humour, and childhood memories from Northern Ireland.

If you enjoy real-life stories with heart, compassion, and a strong sense of community, they’re definitely worth checking out. Always happy to chat books if you’re looking for new reading friends!

You can find both books here:

I watched Ghosts of Mississippi, leaving Netflix on March 31. It is an account of the murder of Medgar Evers and retrial of Bryon De la Beckwith in 1994. It is an excellent movie, with Alec Baldwin as the prosecutor, Whoopi Goldberg as Evers widow, and James Woods as De la Beckwith.
