Universe Today Book Club discussion

Books covering tens of thousands of years, yet from the point of view of realistic people. No overt fantasy, just reasonable science as we currently understand, with some minor hand waving.

Parts are sad, uplifting, shocking, and otherwise emotionally engaging. Overall enjoyable for many many hours.

Quarantine

Tom recommended Seveneves By Neal Stephenson

I agree, it's very well written and is a very compelling story.

The Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson spans almost two centuries and covers the colonization and terraforming of Mars. The series consists of "Red Mars," "Green Mars," and "Blue Mars."

I recommend AlphaDynamics: Generative Universe by Tommie Shea. I wrote it as a bottom-up account of how the universe generates structure, starting from simple parts and showing how larger structure follows. It is available on Amazon in Kindle and paperback.
