Kushiel's Dart question

I just finished it, and wow! i didn't think it would appeal to me at all and it was collecting dust on my shelf for years but never judge a book from it's premise i guess. i'm so intrigued and it's one of my favorites now. what a wild ride of emotions. what was your favorite part? and what did you think of the characters? as much as i love the court intrigues and politicking i think the cornerstone was the characters for me and how realistic the dynamics and dialogues were.

Sorry, I've tried to read it several times in the last few years and I just keep sticking it back on the shelf. The next time I need to purge the bookcases for room to add new books, this is one that will go in the trash. It's a shame because I really enjoy her "Agent of Hel" trilogy.
