She more than earned the spot. As a woman, and dyslexic too, she worked twice as hard as any man. The only favoritism I say was that they were 100% behind her making the lieutenant grade.Stahl was a nasty, vindictive guy. I wish we could have had more in the way of history about him. He obviously ticked off a lot of people.
Stahl shows up as a nasty piece of work and is a bit fixated on Sam, clouding his judgment about everything.
I didn’t sense any favoritism either, especially considering the level of respect she seems to have from everyone else. Sam earned this promotion.

In this particular instance, there is no favoritism. Sam earned her place with hard work (even harder than someone without a reading disability) and Stahl is a jealous and misogynistic jerk. That said, there is definite favoritism in other respects.
Agree, Lauren. Sam earned her place, but she was given way more leeway than anyone else would have been given with this case.
I sense trouble with Stahl when he is in IAB. That seems like a strange move for a troublemaker. I believe Sam earned her promotion.
