I was expecting the book to be a little more engaging at first. I loved the ending, but I thought it was very slow at first and was not very into it.
it is if you're not interested in how exactly the music industry worked at the time. it's not for everyone
omg totally agree! i struggled to get through this book, and it was so hyped up so i thought i would love it but i was so underwhelmed. I feel like for me the chapters were too long.
It was slow going for me too. I put it away unread, and I read another book , then went back to it. I am glad I did. It is a well done in oral history style, while still being fictional. As I lived in California in the latter part of the sixties and the seventies, the themes were familiar and I had to keep telling myself that this was not biographical.
