Thanks :) I'll get a character up at some point!
((Nice! I'll try getting a character up soon. Been busy))
Name: Damen Lee Russell
"I know I'm a mess, but so is life."
Age: 17, almost 18
Appearance: https://i.pinimg.com/564x/1c/a4/a9/1c...
"I ask myself why I live, then I wonder why I ask when I can't find an answer."
Personality: On the outside, Damen is an angry, moody teenager who has the tendency to swing fists and crack skulls. He has fought countless times with his classmates, and while he's not usually the one who starts it, he's the one who gives the first punch. He tends to keep to himself when he can help it and prefers not to talk if he doesn't have to. He has no friends at school and most of the kids who don't want to meet his fist usually avoid him as much as they can.
On the inside, Damen is just a reserved kid who really actually has a good heart and has just had a very unfortunate growing up life. He's the one who'd chase down the kidnapper to save the little girl or rescue the cat from the burning building but nobody's ever given him the chance to prove that he does have a heart of gold.
He is loyal to those he loves and once you become his friend you better never betray him and he'll be by your side forever.
Damen's family life at home is not a family life. His father is a violent, angry man who is more often drunk than sober and he takes it out on Damen and Damen's mother. Damen has stepped in his father's way more times than he can count in an attempt to protect his mother. Over the years, he's reacted back with his own fists to first save his life, and second, protect his mother. Damen's mother, however, is blind to her husband's violence and even after things go south she remains forever loyal to him and refuses to leave or take Damen with her. It's only a matter of time before Damen will give up on her also, and maybe he already has. But how long will he stay home?

((Could you please start us off?))
((That's fine, take your time))
Damen tugged the hood of his black sweatshirt up over his head as he pushed his way through the school doors. Immediately he was hit by the many voices of chattering teenagers readying for their classes and hurrying through the halls. He readjusted his ratty backpack and headed towards the lockers to grab his books. He hardly ever brought them home with him because a few times his crazy parents had just about wrecked them. He didn't need to deal with that on top of everything else.
He paused in front of his locker, feeling a few eyes turn to him from a group standing off a little ways. Popular kids, he thought to himself. He undid his combination lock and reached in to grab the stack of books and papers he'd left there over the weekend.

As the bell rung, Damen turned and trooped down the hallway, following behind the rest of the kids headed in that direction to the same class. History was first and Damen was dreading it somewhat as they'd been given the heads up that they'd have a sort of project over the next few weeks. He knew there was a high likelihood of being paired up with someone else and he hated that most of all.
Entering the class room, he headed straight to his seat toward the back of the room.
Entering the class room, he headed straight to his seat toward the back of the room.
Damen hadn't even grabbed his history notebook from out of his backpack. He just sat quietly, observing the goings of the class and listening to whatever was being said. Usually it was nothing he cared about or had any importance but he listened anyway. It died away when the teacher entered and he slouched back in his seat, hood still up.
Damen scowled to himself. An arranged partner was the last thing he needed to deal with right now. He hated that idea in the first place but with everything going on at home and how much he was disliked, this was like the last nail in his coffin. He listened as the teacher began listing out the pairs. One after another, none of them yet being his name.
Damen stiffened when his name was called. Great. Now he had a partner, not that he thought he'd be able to get away with it. But this was with Maya. The only thing he knew about Maya was that she was one of the popular girls that never would go out of their way to talk to anyone outside of their friend circle. Whether that was a good or bad thing, he'd find out. He let out a breath and turned, looking over at her briefly. "Hi," he muttered in a low tone, sitting back.
"Not really," Damen said with a shake of his head. "I was kind of hoping you had some ideas." He let out a sigh, reaching for one of his notebooks. He wasn't the best at note taking and his writing was really sloppy so it was likely that nobody would be able to interpret what any of his scribbles meant. "I'm not big into all the war stuff."
((Okayyyy so what kind of project should they do XD I'm thinking it could be on WW2 or something.))
((But what about the project itself?))
((Idk, might make it easier to RP them talking together))
((I'm not sure, that's why I was wondering if you had an idea. Like some sort of presentation?))
Veronica wrote: "She nodded listening as she opened her own notebook. "Well I'm sure we can figure something out," She spoke flipping her pages. In contrast to his notes, hers were organized, highlighted and neat, ..."
"Um," he nodded with a small frown, reaching a hand back to scratch behind his neck. "Yeah." He hated this "working together" thing. There wasn't much of a point in putting effort into trying to help out when every time previously his ideas had been turned down or scorned. Why it would be any different with this girl, he didn't think so. "What's the general idea? Aside from World War 2?"

Damen nodded but didn't really return her smile. It wasn't anything against her, it was just him. "That works. I can find some dates for those things." He scanned his messy notes for a few times and wrote something down on a separate piece of paper where they were both adding ideas to come up with their topics. If she cared much, at least she would see him adding things and actually putting in a little effort despite being the dumb guy nobody liked.
Damen was relieved when their class was just about done. He closed his notebook and began putting things away, glancing up from his open backpack when she asked about working together after school. He probably looked at least a little surprised. "Uh- not at my place. I can stay a bit later tonight if you want." He straightened and looked nervously at the girl. She was pretty and he wondered why she'd even bother offer this. The other girls he'd been paired up with had either taken over and promptly ignored all of his suggestions and work or didn't try that hard themselves.
Damen took the paper hesitantly and glanced down at her contact information. He should probably give her his own. It seemed like the right thing to do. He pulled out a paper from his book and wrote his own phone number below his name and tore it carefully from the sheet. He had avoided putting his address as the last thing he wanted was her to stop by his house and realize what a disaster he and his whole family was.
"Yeah. See you later," he nodded.

I'm back at the library at the first table, Damen texted Maya when it was time for the two of them to get together for another round of studying. He would rather spend time here in the school library than at home even, and this was such a regular occurrence for him anymore.
As the time went on while Damen waited, he grew anxious and wondered if she would even show up. He bounced his knee, nearly hitting the table with it, and sighed. This was stupid. He really couldn't depend on anyone for anything if they couldn't even show up for some studying -- when he glanced up from his notes again, she was walking in his direction. A wave of relief swept over him. At least she was here. He gave her a nod in her direction, waiting for her to pull out a chair and get settled.
"I thought you weren't coming," he said.
