A few hours in to the narration. Don’t really understand a lot of the world yet but I’m just going with it and assuming the story will come together at some point.I enjoyed the scene with his grandmother. His demon family is certainly interesting
I liked the grandmother too. I am at 15% and probably about the same place as you. I tend not to like flashbacks very much and that is holding for this story so far as well. I am more interested in the "current" day. The world system is unclear yet but I figure it will become more clear as the books goes.
I’m 33% through and am still much more invested in the present. The flashbacks though are providing some context and assuming some of the info will be helpful later on?The magic system is interesting. I’m enjoying Kai being a morally grey character.
I’m enjoying the flashbacks a bit more, I’m finding it useful to some extent to understand the relationships Kai has with some of the supporting characters.Still prefer the present time though. I feel more invested in that story.
At 45%
You are much further along than I am. Im only at 33%. I spent yesterday catching up on life - groceries, bills etc. Sadly, I don't have this one as an audio for the library so I have to have time to read.I do agree that Kai is fun and I like meeting all the other characters is the past.
Yeah, audios I can move more quickly through. Like right now while in the school drop off line 😂.I’ll probably finish today maybe tomorrow. Then I need to get going on The Red Palace.
I'm finding the concept of possession of another's body and basically living in it after they died to be weirdly fascinating. Especially the differences when taking over someone willing to accept you versus someone who is fighting the possession. How disorientating to have sort of access to your own memories and another's simultaneously.

I'm trying to not spoil anything for you :)
Just finished, overall enjoyed the book and I think she built a really interesting world.I’ll save other comments until you’ve had some time to read more (no rush!)
But I kinda hope she writes more from this world not so much a strict series but more of a group of companion stories if that makes sense.
I do get the mixed reviews. If you go into this think more of Murderbot you will be very confused

They are off to kill the 2nd one and found the brother again, which I expected. I wish I had more time to read this week and not just listen to audio.
