This recent 'craze' makes me tired. Women readers are flocking to the meager handful of simplistic 'female-heroine' thrillers released in the last two years ....and then they wail that they can't find any more. Ridiculous! As if this 'Stig Larsen' joker invented something 'new'? That's what fanfare might lead one to assume. Instead, what has really ensued is a predictable spate of "jill-come-lately" products. They're of very dubious value.

Original, innovative, female thrillers have been around quite some time, thank you very much! Here's a list of my personal picks, and I'm sure there's plenty more.

Your mission: (1) spread the word about these works, and (2) add to this list from your own faves!

Honey West
Lightsource
Snow
Tripwire
Patchwork
The Balfour Conspiracy
Black Sunday
Coma
Jamaica Inn
Frenchman's Creek
Fall from Grace
Modesty Blaise
Wolf Winter
Night Sky
Ride a Pale Horse
Above Suspicion
The Hidden Target
I And My True Love

The movie's been recently re-released in a re-mastered print. Worth keeping an eye out for. Laughton, was one of the greatest actors ever.

The two protagonists are both female, one a young American on her honeymoon in Hong Kong, the other an elderly Chinese peasant.

SIS paramilitary officer Tara Chace. Incredibly competent at her job as the tip of the spear for the SIS, she's also more than just a pretty face with a gun. Her creator gave her a lot of psychological depth and unlike say Scott Harvath, she suffers throughout all the disasters and "oh so necessary" tasks she has to perform in the course of her job.

Richard Lowry | 2 comments My new book, Code Name: Scarlet, does not have a lone female protagonist. She is part of a team, which is much more realistic. Rest assured, she is as able as any other member of the Joint operation. Her participation is crucial to the outcome.

When I hear the word, 'policewoman' I automatically think: Angie Dickinson. But that's just me...

Justin Roberts | 3 comments Yup, you got me! I'm the author all right :D

It's about a policewoman from a special antiterrorist unit that is assigned to Interpol Manchester to combat a drug syndicate called the Irish Drug Cartel. One of her teammates is an SAS squadron commander. After surviving an ambush, the SAS squadron commander taught her new CQB skills at the Pontrilas Army Training Area in Herefordshire,

The action in this book revolves around counter-terrorist tactics instead of detective/investigation/police work.
