Hellooow, I would love to join you for this BR! I have the audiobook version so I already started because it takes me longer to finish than actually reading haha. I’m still in Chapter 3 but (view spoiler)
Yesterday I finished Chapter 5, and I can tell that things are going to become interesting from this point forward. The Spanish used throughout the text sometimes make it a little difficult to follow the audiobook, because I don't have the slightest idea what the words even look like, let alone what they mean...
I finished Chapter 10 yesterday and I'm in the point where things have started getting interested, haha. (view spoiler)
started and am on Chapter 5....this story is very atmospheric...liking the Spanish words...reading ebook so can look up translations...I also wondered the same about Nestor at the start of Chapter 3...
aikaterine wrote: "I finished Chapter 10 yesterday and I'm in the point where things have started getting interested, haha. [spoilers removed]"I was wondering the same thing. I dont feel that Nena is wrong with her reaction.
I am starting Chapter 12...the description of the vampires is different from other stories ive read...
Story is keeping me engaged and wanting to know more...
@Rosina, I definitely agree that the vampire depiction is totally different from what I expected or have read before! But it adds a lot to the atmosphere and also gives off some thriller vibes, which I looove!
@Hafs, noooo, don’t worry, I just had to make a head start as I might not even finish in time (I’m a slow audiobook listener) :(
okay so you guys were right made it to chapter 20 real quick and whew I knew I liked The Hacienda and was expecting to like another one of the author's books but this is GOOD, I haven't been scared YET but the atmosphere is definitely unsettling
on Chapter 24...really like the atmosphere....the author writes so that you feel the emotions of the Nena and NestorI am liking the Vampires more as a monster but haven't been scared yet...
I haven't read Hacienda but may give a try....really like the writing...
Hafs once done would be interested in knowing which one you enjoyed more
The last quarter of the book i couldnt put down. I really enjoyed the authors note at the end. This was an interesting read and glad I decided to read this.
I just finished this and it was kind of disappointing?? I expected so much more but it's like the author got tired of writing towards the end. I still think the concept of El Cuco inspired vampires is interesting but I needed more
I personally preferred The Hacienda to this mainly because there was layers to it and the story being mainly confined to the house added to that claustrophobic feeling that amplified the horror aspect.
I just finished it as well, and it was kinda enjoyable, but overall, nothing mind-blowing. Maybe I would have better liked the unique aspects of this book if I was reading it instead of listening to the audiobook. Thankfully, I am still intrigued to give a chance to Hacienda, especially since @Hafs thinks it was better than this.
