what do you think about ACFTL compared to TBONA i couldn't give it a 5 star since there was too much Apollo and about his past but tbh nobody cares about him. I feel like we could have had more evajacks scenes but it is the last book of their story and even though I'm really happy about their happy ending and closure, it was rushed I know that Stephanie rewrote the book for the second time and she did not have enough time but I WISH WE WAITED A LITTE MORE FOR A LONGER THIRD BOOK.
I know what you mean about to many chapters about Apollo he just got worse and worse!!! I really liked A curse for true love and I feel like trying to compare it to The ballad of never after is kinda hard just because the story felt different. I would say I liked TBONA a little more than ACFTL because basically the whole book was just Jacks and Eva!! I also agree I wish the book was longer!!
I really loved the end of these series, although I may say, personally, I did feel some things were not really developed or dived in throughly (I would have hoped i.e to get more of Lala and her true love, also Chaos's backstory) but I'm also slighlty suspicious the author may take them as main characters for a next series?Just a thought!
Also, I really didn't love Apollo but per moments I felt kind of bad that for the first two books he was basically cursed, and cursed but then made the villain; I understand we could see he was not really always good, but I guess I didn't see that coming haha
Overall (sorry for this long message) I adore these series, it rapidly became one of my favorites! EvaJacks forever XDD I love them so much!
Ya maybe we will get a book about Lala and her backstory or chaos, That would be pretty cool! I feel like Apollo was always mean't to be the villain, I don't know I just never really liked him. These books are definitely some of my favs! I love hearing everyone's opinions, it's cool seeing what everyone took from the book!!
I love hearing people talk about these books too <3, and I guess about Apollo, it's true that in his introduction he wasn't the nicest either and I might have been lost afterwards haha!I would love for the author to write more books about this world, I feel there is so much more that can be developed about the Fates; Lala and Chaos were both great characters and I'd love to get more from them :D
Yes I totally agree, Lala and Chaos were both pretty good characters. We did kind of get a little bit of Chaos's background finding out he is actually a Valor! I really didn't see it coming. We didn't really get a whole lot of info about Lala and her past. In general I really loved how everything unfolded!!
I have so many questions. I havent read Caraval so I dont know if these answers are in there. Also this is my favorite series ever so this is no hate just genuinley have so many questions.- Why was chaos killing poeple? Why did he target the fortunas?
- Who sent the asassin to kill Evangeline in her bed?
- What happened to her step sister? she just vanished and Evangeline never thought of her again
- Luc also just dissapearing and she never thought of him again.
- How did jacks get his heart back in his body?
- The curses on jacks just magically gone with no explination whatsoever
- NOT EXPLAINING THE APPLES
- Do they give the stone back to the Hollow so it comes back to life?
- Why did her letter magically bring back her memories. It seems these curses just randomly break when they feel like it. At the start the curses were so prominent and you had to find a way to break them and then towards the end it made no sense.
- Why was evangaline the fox? this was not explained at all or made sense.
- Why was there two foxes and two keys? like why did the world make two of both? Is there a doppleganger thing going on? Like not only was she jacks second fox but she was also the second key. Did she just make this up as she went along?
- Why were the valours locked up in a suspended sleep? and why did they just come back and then just do nothing. They were built up to be the most powerful magical people and then just did the bare minimum when they came back. And no one put two and two together that they all have the exact same names as the valours and look the same from all the paintings and history?
- Where is Apollos brother and his group that wanted to stop the arch from being open? That story line just died and why did he give those lashed to Apollos back?
- Is Eva just going to grow old and die? Like jacks is immortal so how is that going to work?

God bless this post lol. I agree with so many of these questions. Stephanie needed some serious help with the plot and tying up ends. I want to "love" the end of the series because it was so fun to go in to this world, but the whole third book felt chaotic. They just run from one location to the next, plot is like a crazy game of candy land.
So many random confusing parts..like why was there this massive hunt that everyone in the land was attending, but Apollo and servants didn't invite Evangeline or prepare her? Everyone just left, and she happened to ask to see Apollo and wandered in to it lol. Things like this are way more interesting when there's build up to it.
How does Evangeline just wander through the woods and find ppl like LaLa and Jacks when she needs to? She's never been there before and just beelines exactly where she needs to go. Seems so unlikely.
We spend so much time in Evangeline's head being reminded of what has happened and how she feels that we skip the normal transitions the book needs int he actual plot. I know its a fairy tale type fantasy, but nothing felt real enough and the ending was all too easy.

I also share a lot of these questions!
I actually read somewhere a theory about Jacks curse...that vampire venom can cure curses as long as you don't become one and that might have been the case with Jacks but he never figured it out?
About his heart, the Caraval series do touch a part of this actually (part of his story with Donatella), and the apples...from the last part of the book I'd think Jacks simply ate a lot of apples to distract himself from...kissing maybe? I guess it should be more than that but...definitely I really loved the series but there are a loot of loose ends and I also felt some things just resolved pretty magically...
They finally KISSED !!!!!!!!!!! It was amazing !!!! but....it could have been a 100pages longer. especially the last part.
Yeah I agree with all of that!also, why did I feel like Evangeline did not want her memories back? Like I feel like the only time she cared was when people asked and she was like ¨Oh right! Im supposed to need my memories back!!¨ like GURL??? This book was just bonkers. So much stuff happened.
Omg I was in rage ab the hunt like that was so pointless.
If I'm so honest EvaJacks is the only reason i finished this book. Garber didn't answer a single question I had from TBONE or the Caraval series. she is the master of plot holes. Unfortunately, i feel she's going to keep putting out bad writing set in this book universe because she knows we'll buy it lol. Idk, what do you guys think?

And her almost getting killed during the hunt was so random. I had forgotten all about Petra Youngblood.
I also agree with some of the questions asked. I feel like a lot of loose ends weren't tied up(a possible set up for a 4th book?). -What happened to the protectorate? And were they the people who sent the assassin to kill Evangeline?
- What the heck happened to Marisol and Luc? Marisol made one appearance in TBONA and just dipped
- THE APPLES. This literally makes no sense no matter how you try and explain it.
- What about Jacks? Is his curse actually broken, or is Evangeline just the one person who is immune to it, and also why is only Evangeline immune? Also Jacks is immortal, so how are they going to solve that problem? If Jacks keeps referring to Evangeline as his "second fox, then why didn't he have the urge to kill her? Is she just referred as this because she is Jacks' "one true love"?(again, is this a set up for a 4th book?)
- What happened to the Valors? Are they just going to take back the kingdom, or are they going to reveal themselves?
- And in OUABH, it says that vampire venom cures curses, so why didn't it cure Jacks's curse?
- Is Garber purposefully leaving these plot points undone for a new series/book?
- Lala and Chaos when?
- What happened to Jacks' heart?
And it feels like the plot was all over the place. I also noticed that I had a really hard time explaining to people what this book was about, like yes, it is a fantasy romance, but what about the actual plot points. But that is just my opinion, and it might just be me thats the problem not the author.
And Evangeline almost getting killed by Lord Bellflower (lowkey forgot his name😅) was super random. Like, I had completely forgot about Petra until that scene. I'm not joking when I say that I had to flip back to TBONA to remember who that was. Also Petra's whole character was random as well. What I mean is, I don't understand why her character was necessary.
Also the hunt itself was weird. This story takes place at roughly a span of a year or so and no one seemed to mention this hunt deal. And why did Evangeline have no idea what it is? If the whole kingdom takes part in this then why wouldn't anyone in the South have any idea of what it is either? Is this effected by the Northern story curse?
But, I did somewhat understand why Evangeline didn't want her memories back. Like if Apollo is making Jacks seem like a villain, and that her background is traumatic, it seems like a get out of jail free card to me. Like heck yeah, now I don't have to pay for therapy!
But, while there were some missing plot points I did like how Garber wrote this. I thought that the way Garber got rid of Apollo was very clever. With the tree taking who you love most and so the tree took Apollo himself. Absolutely savage. And the Phoenix Tree scene was 1000/10. I also thought that this book also integrated humor into the story, which wasn't cheesy humor, it actually made me laugh. Even with the unanswered questions, I thought that this was a 5/5 book series and I can't wait to see what Garber does in the future!

Honestly I felt so curve-balled by Apollo. In the first two books he was at most an arrogant prince who was a little selfish, at least a minor plot point. Surely having been released from his curse to pursue Evangeline, he should have gone back to just that. I know we got some explanation in that he still felt some of the need to be near Evangeline, but it really felt Apollo just came out of nowhere in the last book. If he was going to play a more important role later on, I feel he should have been looked into a little more earlier on. I could have completely missed something, but it just felt like the last book needed an antagonist so Apollo was chosen, instead of, say, the Protectorate, or the Valors themselves. As for the loose ends, I quite liked it. Nice to have a 'fairytale' ending of the answer was 'True Love' and that's it.
I JUST GOT A COMMENT ON PINTEREST THAT STEPHANIE IS RELEASING A HOLIDAY EDITION BOOK AFTER A CURSE FOR TRUE LOVE IS IT TRUE?!
In my opinion the series is a bit unfinished. The ending was a bit rushed and there was no explanation of what happens after Apollo dies. Like where do they live? What happens next? Are they going to ignore the fact that Eva will age and jacks won’t?🤣 and she still ha the brokenhearted scar and I agree that jacks should become human. We need a novella @Danica really?!? That’s great I need to read that!
