Its time for recs, we can pick for each other Elena and if anyone else joins after we will pick for them and they can pick for us as well.

Looking for anything in particular?

message 4: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1805 comments As usual, I'm up for almost everything, though bonus points for something cozy :) What about you Brittany?

Nothing over 600 pages. My attention span in December doesn't hold long enough usually. Otherwise I am up for basically whatever

Elena Granger | 1805 comments @Brittany here are my pick for you (I tried to choose shorter ones).

Green cover
When We're Thirty by Casey Dembowski - it's funny and it's 30+ romance, could be interesting. I remember enjoying it.
The Invisible Library (The Invisible Library, #1) by Genevieve Cogman - books about books is always something interesting to pick, I didn't read it, but the description sounds interesting.
The Inheritance Games (The Inheritance Games, #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes - I remember you've mentioned loving that Netflix show (Knives Out and Glass Onion) and the first book reminded me of them. Same vibes, same mysterious and rich atmosphere.

Darkness
The Winter of the Witch (The Winternight Trilogy, #3) by Katherine Arden - I loved the series and it's dark and cold.

Holidays
The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan - that book just screams Christmas and it's comforting and good

Bonus
The Goblin Emperor (The Goblin Emperor, #1) by Katherine Addison - it doesn't fit into any category, but I've noticed you have it on your TBR. Well, it's definitely on a longer side, but it's so unique and captivating.

Thanks Elena! Great options!
I finally put a hold on Inheritance Games, I really should read that one. It says 10 week wait though.
Funnily enough I just took out Winter of the Witch, decided it was time to finish the series and its the right season for it!

Elena here are your picks

Green cover Bewitched Christmas A Witch's Holiday Romantic Cozy Mystery by Cate Lawley I know nothing about this but I came across it and its a cozy with a green cover set at Christmas so it sounds perfect for the season.
Across the Green Grass Fields (Wayward Children, #6) by Seanan McGuire Looks like this is the next wayward children for you, and well green grass fits
Jade City (The Green Bone Saga, #1) by Fonda Lee from your tbr

Darkness: Hemlock Island by Kelley Armstrong I just read this one and its horror with some good dark twisty moments. I got you to read another of her books earlier so thought I'd keep the Armstrong recs going
The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black on your tbr, I think dark in the cover counts
Dark Water Daughter (The Winter Sea, #1) by H.M. Long also on your tbr (and mine too for that matter) dark in the title and the series is called the Winter Sea so it seems fitting. Dark dreams, spectral creatures and pirates, sounds good to me.

Holidays How to Excavate a Heart by Jake Maia Arlow cute sapphic romance. Best part of this book though is the setting, Smithsonian musuems. I loved all the dead fish details. The drama parts weren't my favourite, but it was still a worthwhile read.
Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan from your tbr and looks cute. Holidays set in a bookstore what's not to like.

Elena Granger | 1805 comments I'm glad you like the selection! I also love your picks. I really want to read Jade City (actually wanted to read it for a long time, but couldn't get my hands on it) and unfortunately still can't get it fast.
So I decided to go with Across the Green Grass Fields as I'm really into the series and enjoyed almost all the books (except the first one).

I'm finally listening to Winter of the Witch! The start with (view spoiler)

Elena Granger | 1805 comments I don't even remember how exactly it started (I remember most of the scenes, but it was a while since I've read the series), great you're still loving the atmosphere. That's the aspect I enjoyed the most, perfect combo of folklore, darkness and cold that is almost palpable.
