N_e_s | 98 comments Leaning against the railing of the library’s second floor, Levitt Turner sternly turned the page of the book he was reading. With the seriousness of his expression, one might think he was reading a novel about war, some dramatic affair.

Instead, he was paging through an almanac, written documentation of the past climate in Amandla, the harvests bounties and which seeds were best to sow at what time.

His eyes never left the page as he studied with an intensity that seemed unusual.

જ⁀➴ Cσყ ⁺₊ .ೃ࿔ | 178 comments Davy came inside the library. Walking to the archive of old battle tactics. Going to the first page of moves, he followed the moves while studying the moves.

Flipping to the next page. He went to a big space, going down low and then moving back. Hearing a flip of a page he stopped moving. Embarrassed. Looking around and then up seeing the head of agriculture, he waved.

N_e_s | 98 comments The movement in his peripheral vision made Levitt glance over the top of his book. His eyes caught sight of a man he was familiar with, one of the older Crimson guards, seeming to practice combat movements in the library.

Levitt nodded curtly at the man.

“Bit of an odd place for combat training, don’t you think?”
He tried to allow his voice to be light and amicable, but his strict tone made him sound like a warden.

જ⁀➴ Cσყ ⁺₊ .ೃ࿔ | 178 comments “Hey, it's been a while since they have sent me out on a mission.”

He says closing the book around his thumb. He walked to a nearby table and sat on it. Look at how he stuck his head out from the book.

“So what are you reading Sir?”

He looked with curiosity.

N_e_s | 98 comments “Yes I suppose there hasn’t been much need for fighting recently has there,”

‘Other than intimidating opposing villagers into submission,’
Levitt didn’t let that thought be said aloud. He felt as of now that the Crimson rule was the most tolerable authority for him and his people. Even still, sometimes he felt for those that called out against the new rulers.

Closing his book and leaning over the railing more, he lightly tapped the hard cover with his finger.

“A collection of past almanacs for the region of Amandla. I believe our administration is expecting too much of the farmerfolk, Im trying to gather statistics of past harvests and climate to convince Aubree that they are doing all they can.”
He stated this all in a matter of fact way. His gaze seemed to focus on the wooden floor of the library, not as if he were shy, but rather as if he were focused and his words were written out for him on the ground.

There was the worry that the farmers would not work for the Crimsons, anger growing as they felt quite forgotten throughout the revolution. Levitt sought to bridge this divide.

જ⁀➴ Cσყ ⁺₊ .ೃ࿔ | 178 comments “I’ll try to talk to Aubree about it.”

Davy says. Tapping his other hand on the table. Seeing how upset this new person is about the farmers being overworked.

“Hey, my family used to be farmers before we moved to aldea!”

And I was forced to follow the crimsons, Davy mumbled.

N_e_s | 98 comments “As advisor for the agricultural industry of Amandla, I’m sure I will be able to convince her.”
Levitt was very matter of fact in his tone, his confidence in his expert opinion being apparent. In his mind it wasn’t that he was an all knowing genius. He knew what he knew. He knew plants, he knew the land, the climate, the people. It was as plain as that. So he saw no reason Aubree shouldn’t have appointed him or hear him out.

Levitt nodded in response to Davy’s family history. He still felt connected to the trade and felt those who chose it were often noble and genuine.

“Farmers are good folk. I miss the fields now and then.”

He had turned his gaze back toward Davy, trying his best to give a warm smile. Though due to his natural demeanor, the movement in his lips was barely noticeable, only showing a kindness in his eyes.

“They still work now? They must be quite proud you became a fighter.”

જ⁀➴ Cσყ ⁺₊ .ೃ࿔ | 178 comments “I'm sure you could!”

He says with a smile. Hearing the confidence in their voice. Thinking they were a little cocky. But they didn't mind.

“Nah, they don't work anymore. Father died and I take care of my mother. They were proud of me.”

N_e_s | 98 comments “Hm… I see.”

Without much more of a word, Levitt turned from the railing and retreated back to the rows of bookshelves behind him.

He slid the almanac collection back into its vacant hole, and felt with his finger along the row, searching for another book to study.

Perhaps it was his uncomfortableness with talking about personal things with strangers, aside from small talk, but he found himself only being able to talk of work and politics again.

“I hear some of the village folk are growing angry with our administration,” his voice bellowed down, not yelling but loud so as to be heard down to the second floor.

“It’s unclear to me what plans are being set forth to remedy their frustrations. It’s not wise to brush off their riots and protesting.”

જ⁀➴ Cσყ ⁺₊ .ೃ࿔ | 178 comments “Hm, shall I check it out tomorrow morning?” they say confused about what the villagers could want.

Looking down, he felt awkward about this person having such big walls to their true self and their emotions. Ripping a small piece of his work shirt he placed it onto the page he was on.

“Never really got your name. I'm Davy, Davy Jason at your service,” he said getting up. Walking to the start of the stairs,

N_e_s | 98 comments An evergreen cover caught the man’s attention. In embossed writing it read ‘Compendium of Trading of Goods and Materials-Amandla’. He grabbed the book, and walking to the top of the stairs looked down to see Davy at the bottom.

“Levitt Turner. Good to meet you.”

Walking away to a table nearby, Levitt placed the book down and opened it to the beginning.

Thinking on what Davy said as he skimmed the table of contents, he shook his head.

“No no, it might cause trouble to send you. We should try to avoid conflict. That is unless you’re interested in the matter of compromise. It seems I’m one of the only ones who is fine to listen to supporters the fallen rulers.”

Levitt knew his role in dismantling the past monarchy. He knew who he was helping and saw that it had the potential to be good for his people. But things were fragile now.

જ⁀➴ Cσყ ⁺₊ .ೃ࿔ | 178 comments “No, no. Not to murder the defiant. Just go undercover and see what they could want or need.”

They say raising their hands, not wanting them to think they were some kind of crazy person. Looked around at the shelves trying to find another section of fighting techniques. Found a book called: “Fighting Styles From Around The World.” pulling it out. They went to the same table.

“You can't tell anyone. But I tried to be a royal guard. They seemed nice and lovely. Then I remembered how if I left the Crimsons they would kill me. In fear, I stayed.” they said pulling out a chair and sitting,

N_e_s | 98 comments “You don’t have to worry, I’m not some narrow minded Crimson obsessor,”

Levitt turned the pages of his book quickly, reading through information of inter-trade between the territories in Amandla; Cyran, Renoa, Maldolq…

He thought ok why he became advisor in the first place, why he joined the Crimsons. It was out of a willingness to help all these places, their people.

“I didn’t hate the Hordon-Lancasters. I just saw they weren’t doing enough for the workers of their kingdom. The Crimsons seemed like they would care more. That is all. I joined for the good of my community, if it seems that the Crimsons start to fail, well…”

Glancing up at Davy with a steady neutral expression.
Some might be fearful to say anything negative of the Crimsons. But to Levitt it was simply common sense.

“I don’t see why we should blindly follow.”

જ⁀➴ Cσყ ⁺₊ .ೃ࿔ | 178 comments “The Lancaster seemed like some good folk. But the king was just plain nasty, from some of the information I had gathered it seemed that he was abusing the queen.”

Davy said with disappointment. Wondering who would do such a thing to such a kind and loving woman? He flipped to the first page In big letters said: OLD TECHNIQUES OF AMANDLA.

Flipping to the next page he thought in silence about his mother, who loved the Queen. Then the nosies of his father yelling at his mother crawled into his mind. Tears forming. Drop, drop, drop. His tears fell on the page. His breathing getting heavier, starting to hyperventilate he closed the book loudly.

N_e_s | 98 comments Levitts eyes had been trained on the words in his book when he heard the light drop drop drop sounds.

Glancing over, his blank look turned to one of distress as he witness Davy crying and shutting his book with a loud thud.

Levitt had no clue what to do. The outburst of emotion from this near stranger was totally disarming. He felt confusion in that moment, accompanied by a great sympathy that he didn’t quite know how to express.

The man pulled one of the wooden chair from the table, it’s legs scraping the floor. He positioned it next to Davy and sat down. Hesitantly, Levitt gave the others mans shoulder a pat.

“I-it’s… it’s alright sir… just try to slow your breathing, close your eyes, you’re alright now…”

જ⁀➴ Cσყ ⁺₊ .ೃ࿔ | 178 comments Breathing in slowly. Breathing out. Wiping his face he grabbed his book. Getting up and out of his chair. He walked down the stairs and out the door. Leaving without a single word.

N_e_s | 98 comments ((End of rp?))

Levitt retreated back in his seat as Davy stood from his chair. He watched the man rush away down the stairs without a word.

Standing and instinctively following to the top of the stair, Levitt reached a hand out and his voice made an effort call after Davy.

He stopped himself however and only watched as the crying man fled from the library.

Staring blankly at the now closed doorway, Levitt was surrounded by a cold silence. He turned slowly and sat back down. His gaze trained hard on the book in front of him, he hesitantly reach out and grabbed it.

Pretending to himself that he could continue his study, Levitt flipped through the pages not even reading the words, only thinking of poor sir Davy and his overwhelming anguish.
