Tasks:
🎤 Run DMC was an America hip hop and rap group from Queens, New York City and is considered one of the most influential hip hop groups ever. The group was comprised of Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell. When Simmons was a teen, his brother, Russell was an up and coming hip hop promoter. Joseph, known as DJ Run, would often DJ for rappers represented by Russell. McDaniels, a friend, had been more interested in athletics, but became more interested in DJing in the 1970s. In the late 1970s, Simmons and McDaniels met Mizell and the trio started creating music together.

🎤 In 1983, while in college, Simmons, McDaniel, and Mizell convinced Russell Simmons to let them record. Simmons decided that the group’s name would be Run DMC. Their debut album, Run-D.M.C. was released in 1983 with several singles becoming hits. Run DMC also helped change the vibe and culture of hip hop. Previous old school rappers were usually dressed in more flashy attire, whereas Run DMC wore more “street” style which included leather jackets and unlaced Adidas shoes, which was inspired by Mizell’s own personal style.

🎤 Run DMC decided to branch out with their follow up album, which was called King of Rock. They explored rock rap fusions with the songs “Can You Rock It Like This” and “Roots, Rap, Reggae,” which were some of the first rap/dance hybrids. The single “Rock Box” was the first ever hip-hop music video to be broadcast on MTV. In 1986, they teamed with producer Rick Rubin, who also helped produce LL Cool J’s album Radio. Their third album was titled Raising Hell. It peaked at number three on the charts at the time, but would be one of the bestselling rap albums of all time.

🎤Raising Hell is often attributed with the start of the golden age of hip hop and helping to pave the way for other musicians like LL Cool J and the Beasties Boys. After a tour, they released the album Tougher Than Leather. It wasn’t the most successful album, but it had many singles, including “Run’s House”, “Beats to the Rhyme”, and “Mary Mary”. In 1990, Run DMC released their next album, Back From Hell which was a flop. Problems began to surface for the group. McDaniel’s years of heavy drinking was developing into alcoholism. Mizell was involved in a serious car accident and survived two gunshot wounds. Simmons was charged with rape in 1991, but the charges were dropped.

🎤 After so much chaos in their lives, McDaniels and Simmons joined churches and turned to their faith. The group took a hiatus, but returned in 1993 with Down with the King, which had a gritter sound with some religious references. It had a number of guest appearances and reached Number 7 on the pop charts. The next few years had the group off in different avenues. Mizell produced, Simmons focused on his family and spiritual and philanthropic endeavors by becoming a reverend, and McDaniels focused on family and made some guest appearances on others’ albums. Mc Daniels also discovered he was adopted and participated in the VH1 program My Adoption Journey. The group did come to together in the late 1990s, but there were strong creative disagreements and their seventh, and final album, Crown Royal, was released in April of 2001.

🎤 On October 30, 2002, Mizell was shot and killed at his recording studio in Queens. Fans set up a memorial outside the studio with Adidas sneakers among the flowers. The murder was unsolved for almost twenty years. Simmons and McDaniels announced the official disbanding of the group shortly thereafter. Both have done various projects over the years. Run DMC is known for having achieved a number of notable firsts. They also received numerous honors and accolades and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

🎤 Run DMC was an America hip hop and rap group from Queens, New York City and is considered one of the most influential hip hop groups ever. The group was comprised of Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell. When Simmons was a teen, his brother, Russell was an up and coming hip hop promoter. Joseph, known as DJ Run, would often DJ for rappers represented by Russell. McDaniels, a friend, had been more interested in athletics, but became more interested in DJing in the 1970s. In the late 1970s, Simmons and McDaniels met Mizell and the trio started creating music together.

🎤 In 1983, while in college, Simmons, McDaniel, and Mizell convinced Russell Simmons to let them record. Simmons decided that the group’s name would be Run DMC. Their debut album, Run-D.M.C. was released in 1983 with several singles becoming hits. Run DMC also helped change the vibe and culture of hip hop. Previous old school rappers were usually dressed in more flashy attire, whereas Run DMC wore more “street” style which included leather jackets and unlaced Adidas shoes, which was inspired by Mizell’s own personal style.

🎤 Run DMC decided to branch out with their follow up album, which was called King of Rock. They explored rock rap fusions with the songs “Can You Rock It Like This” and “Roots, Rap, Reggae,” which were some of the first rap/dance hybrids. The single “Rock Box” was the first ever hip-hop music video to be broadcast on MTV. In 1986, they teamed with producer Rick Rubin, who also helped produce LL Cool J’s album Radio. Their third album was titled Raising Hell. It peaked at number three on the charts at the time, but would be one of the bestselling rap albums of all time.

🎤Raising Hell is often attributed with the start of the golden age of hip hop and helping to pave the way for other musicians like LL Cool J and the Beasties Boys. After a tour, they released the album Tougher Than Leather. It wasn’t the most successful album, but it had many singles, including “Run’s House”, “Beats to the Rhyme”, and “Mary Mary”. In 1990, Run DMC released their next album, Back From Hell which was a flop. Problems began to surface for the group. McDaniel’s years of heavy drinking was developing into alcoholism. Mizell was involved in a serious car accident and survived two gunshot wounds. Simmons was charged with rape in 1991, but the charges were dropped.

🎤 After so much chaos in their lives, McDaniels and Simmons joined churches and turned to their faith. The group took a hiatus, but returned in 1993 with Down with the King, which had a gritter sound with some religious references. It had a number of guest appearances and reached Number 7 on the pop charts. The next few years had the group off in different avenues. Mizell produced, Simmons focused on his family and spiritual and philanthropic endeavors by becoming a reverend, and McDaniels focused on family and made some guest appearances on others’ albums. Mc Daniels also discovered he was adopted and participated in the VH1 program My Adoption Journey. The group did come to together in the late 1990s, but there were strong creative disagreements and their seventh, and final album, Crown Royal, was released in April of 2001.

🎤 On October 30, 2002, Mizell was shot and killed at his recording studio in Queens. Fans set up a memorial outside the studio with Adidas sneakers among the flowers. 🎤 Run DMC was an America hip hop and rap group from Queens, New York City and is considered one of the most influential hip hop groups ever. The group was comprised of Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell. When Simmons was a teen, his brother, Russell was an up and coming hip hop promoter. Joseph, known as DJ Run, would often DJ for rappers represented by Russell. McDaniels, a friend, had been more interested in athletics, but became more interested in DJing in the 1970s. In the late 1970s, Simmons and McDaniels met Mizell and the trio started creating music together.

🎤 In 1983, while in college, Simmons, McDaniel, and Mizell convinced Russell Simmons to let them record. Simmons decided that the group’s name would be Run DMC. Their debut album, Run-D.M.C. was released in 1983 with several singles becoming hits. Run DMC also helped change the vibe and culture of hip hop. Previous old school rappers were usually dressed in more flashy attire, whereas Run DMC wore more “street” style which included leather jackets and unlaced Adidas shoes, which was inspired by Mizell’s own personal style.

🎤 Run DMC decided to branch out with their follow up album, which was called King of Rock. They explored rock rap fusions with the songs “Can You Rock It Like This” and “Roots, Rap, Reggae,” which were some of the first rap/dance hybrids. The single “Rock Box” was the first ever hip-hop music video to be broadcast on MTV. In 1986, they teamed with producer Rick Rubin, who also helped produce LL Cool J’s album Radio. Their third album was titled Raising Hell. It peaked at number three on the charts at the time, but would be one of the bestselling rap albums of all time.

🎤Raising Hell is often attributed with the start of the golden age of hip hop and helping to pave the way for other musicians like LL Cool J and the Beasties Boys. After a tour, they released the album Tougher Than Leather. It wasn’t the most successful album, but it had many singles, including “Run’s House”, “Beats to the Rhyme”, and “Mary Mary”. In 1990, Run DMC released their next album, Back From Hell which was a flop. Problems began to surface for the group. McDaniel’s years of heavy drinking was developing into alcoholism. Mizell was involved in a serious car accident and survived two gunshot wounds. Simmons was charged with rape in 1991, but the charges were dropped.

🎤 After so much chaos in their lives, McDaniels and Simmons joined churches and turned to their faith. The group took a hiatus, but returned in 1993 with Down with the King, which had a gritter sound with some religious references. It had a number of guest appearances and reached Number 7 on the pop charts. The next few years had the group off in different avenues. Mizell produced, Simmons focused on his family and spiritual and philanthropic endeavors by becoming a reverend, and McDaniels focused on family and made some guest appearances on others’ albums. Mc Daniels also discovered he was adopted and participated in the VH1 program My Adoption Journey. The group did come to together in the late 1990s, but there were strong creative disagreements and their seventh, and final album, Crown Royal, was released in April of 2001.
