Eric Franklin (mrefranklin) | 2 comments This looks so... empty. I finished the book last night, staying up in bed to get through the last 20% or so. As with many books of this era, it does take a bit more focus to immerse yourself in the circuitousness of the way the characters speak to each other and handle themselves in the broader world.

I'm not sure what the stance on spoilers over here are, so I'll just say at this point that I found the way the various plots and sub-plots resolved to be quite satisfying. Hoping at least some of you guys out there are enjoying the experience as well.

Amanda Dawn | 265 comments I read this one in 2021 and gave it 3 stars: I respect the place this book occupies as a trailblazer in gothic literature, so to modern ears it sounds almost like a string of tropes because of how familiar a lot of these elements now are. That's certainly not Radcliffe's fault.

Regardless, while I did enjoy the book I did find the prose a little oversaturated with melodrama.
