So, if you could wave a magic wand and go back in time, at what age would you like to be? For me, I wasn't that crazy about being a young person knowing what I know now. I guess I would choose to go back in my fifties when I still had my physical strength, energy and mental alertness. How about you?

message 2: by Susan (new)

Susan (wife2abadge) I made so many mistakes in my 20s and 30s, I often used to wish to go back to 18 and start over - if I could make different choices. But now that I'm 59, I'm more content. I'd never want to give up my family and the life I have now, even if the life I *might* have would be better in some ways.

message 3: by Geraldine (new)

Geraldine It seems no one really wants to go back in time!

message 4: by Geraldine (new)

Geraldine Maybe, like me, they all accept how their lives have gone. There’s the good and the bad—but it’s what makes you you

message 8: by Geraldine (new)

Geraldine It sounds interesting

Shirley Laliberte | 6 comments I'd like to go back to 18. I was signed up for airline school but got married instead. Very happily married but would like to see where I would have ended up.

This is day six without Air Conditioning. Waiting on American Home Shield Home Warranty to process my claim. They have to replace the whole unit. It’s in the upper nineties everyday. Really rough on an old man with a heart problem. The older you get the more the heat takes its toll!

They have been good with other appliances such as dishwasher, fridge etc., but a/c and heat or lack of affects ones health and should be expedited with urgency.

If you have newer alliances under 10 years old you probably don’t need it. If you have several 10 years or more I would recommend it.

message 14: by Lori (new)

Lori Thompson | 1 comments I would take my knowledge and go back to 22 years old. If I can’t take my knowledge, I would return to age 40. Time travel would be amazing! 🌟

And you haven't left home yet??? You are much tougher than me.
I cannot take extreme heat At All, never could.
That you are enduring is amazing.

Is there a friend with AC you could visit? Or go to a library?

It’s my attitude or stubbornness is why I don’t. I’ve got plenty of cold beer in the fridge and I’m living in the basement with a fan. To pass the time I look at Goodreads and post my usual sarcastic remarks to keep you people on your toes. I do appreciate your concerns. I’m a tough old bird and to mean to die. Lol

Lisa Hannon (lisachannon) | 17 comments Robert - Hope they got your air on... regarding the magic wand, I wouldn't go back in time for love nor money. Everything I did brought me here, and I love being here, and wouldn't change my past for anything.

No, still waiting on a part. It was 98 degrees today, so we packed up and got a hotel in Joplin and will go back when part comes in. As far as waving a magic wand to go back in time, I would have to be reborn to fix all the mistakes I’ve made.

message 25: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Pritchett | 15 comments My garden is in full bloom! The iris are past, but ditch lilies, zinnias, geraniums and wildflowers are going crazy. Though we are usually in drought by July, we've had plenty of rain and the yard looks beautiful. Hope you all have a safe 4th of July.

message 26: by MaryJo (new)

MaryJo Dawson | 99 comments Because of what the 4th of July signifies, I think it is appropriate for me to make a couple of comments here that refer to things addressed in a couple of different chats.

My nephew is a veteran who suffers some serious health issues because the sarin gas from Saddam blowing up those oil wells was still poisoning the air when many of our soldiers moved in. It took a while for the military to recognize about 25% of those deployed to Iraq would sooner or later suffer because of it.

Charlie has had to fight for some of his benefits but bears no ill will; he loves his country.

And in spite of all of our faults and issues, this nation offers So Much that roughly half the world does not.

We have many friends who have lived overseas for periods of time in 3rd world countries. One couple just returned from 3 months in northern Brazil providing wheelchairs to the infirm.
There was no fresh water where they stayed. If you cannot afford bottled water, you had to drink it out of the contaminated local river. Many do, many suffer for it.
They always come home marveling at our lifestyle here, the gratitude never ends.

May mine never end either. America is worth fighting for, praying for.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 85 comments Addressing the original question, I wouldn't go back in time. Every decision I've made has gotten me where I am now, which isn't so bad. You didn't say anything about going back with the knowledge and experience I have now. In that case, I might make a different decision.

message 28: by Robert, Head Geezer (new)

Robert Roberts (goodreadscomrobertroberts) | 609 comments Mod
Oh Scout if I couldn't go back with the knowledge I have now, I would not even consider it.

message 29: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Bhear | 107 comments I've heard a lot of people say they'd got back to when they were teenagers. I just say nope, I would never got through that again, ever. Kids are so mean, worse now, I guess because they won't say to a person's face what they can write on facebook & stuff like that. They think because they are faceless, they can be as mean as they want. I'd stay right where I am.

message 30: by E (new)

E | 36 comments What some of the young people dont get is what you post on any social media platform stays there.

Many businesses now look at the online profiles of job applicants. A viral post Is pasted across the world in seconds.

Ruth | 147 comments Mod
It sure does stay, E. Even if you deletes d scrub your machine, it’s posted on someone else’s machine. What looks cool at 16 could very well impact your future at 40.
