The dorm buildings are not separated by gender, only in rooms. Boys and girls can talk in the common room.

Aspen stood, hands on his knees, panting. He really didn't run much, it would be good to get in the habit.

"Please don't be mad," he seemed panicked.

"I've done this once before, stupidly, and gotten slapped. People don't like their faces graffitied, a lot,"

He blushed slightly, voice cracking. "You really think so?"

He blushed a little harder, smiling slightly. "It... took a lot of practice..."

"Ok..." he stood up a little straighter, still slouched as usual.

"Um... want a coffee or something?" Aspen rubbed at the back of his head, also a little pink.

"Alright, lemme just put this away..." he darted up to his room, coming back down just as quickly. (Just a second, I'll make it rq)

"Ready?"

Jack creeps in, moving surprisingly silently considering the amount of metal and chains in his outfit. He takes a seat at a small couch near the corner, plugging in his earbuds.

Brooklyn walks in and sits on a recliner and starts to read. She notices jack but doesn't say anything.

His hand nervously taps on the arm of the couch, his body language betraying his image, starting to show a bit of the loneliness and shyness he feels.

Brooklyn (Brooke) notices he's shy like here and wonders if they'll become friends

He starts to finger out chords on the arm of the chair as he listens to his music, only just now noticing Brooklyn in the room.

Brooklyn wonder what he like to do for fun

He fidgets with his denim jacket a little, adjusting some of the patches.

(are we wearing our uniforms rn??)

(Either way, he'd probably be wearing his jacket over it in the common room)

(lol. Im ALWAYS cold so pretend im wearing a hoodie lol)

He shyly looks around the room, realizing it's just him and the other girl.

Brooke realizes that this is awkward and she has to get up the nerve to talk to him

He makes eye contact with her, silently thinking how pretty her hair is, before his eyes flit away.

she notices him looking at her and decides she HAS to say something "hi what's your name?" she asks

He swallows and pauses his music on his phone.

"Jack. Jack Steele..."

"hi. Im Brooklyn Page" "how old r u?"

Brooke realizes that was a really stupid question.

"Seventeen. And a half."

"oh im 16 im turning 17 not week" "so what do u like to do?"

"Well, music mainly. I don't really have much else to do."

"I play the guitar. What do u play?"

"Guitar and drums."

"oh nice!"
she asks shyly "maybe we can hang out sometime?"

His cheeks get a bit pink.

"Oh, um, sure. That sounds cool."

"yeah"
she realizes that was dumb but who cares.

Brooke goes back to reading her book

"Um... what are you reading?"

"Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen"

(its on my TBR list)

"You like the classics then?"

"yes, but I read any kind"

"Oh, okay."

(LOL)

"so what kind of music do u like listening to?"

"Hard rock, heavy metal, stuff like that. I like loud and with lots of guitar."

"oh nice! I listening to guitar cuz that's what I play lol"

"Oh, cool."

"yea. Hey you want my #?"

His face turns slightly pink again.

"Oh, um... sure."
