Duration: January 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024

Tarot is a pack of 78 playing cards that was first used in the 15th century. The deck includes 22 cards in the Major Arcana and 56 cards in the Minor Arcana. The Minor Arcana consists of four suits of 14 cards each: Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. The cards of the Major Arcana tell the Fool's Journey: a spiritual journey from The Fool’s innocent beginning to fulfillment in The World, and all life’s stages in between.

For this challenge, we will read books that match the tarot cards:
- books that fit the meaning of the card (e.g. The Lovers: Pride and Prejudice)
- books that have a card name in the title (e.g. The Strength: That Hideous Strength)
- books with a cover that matches a tarot card (e.g. The Moon: The Call of the Wild by Jack London )

Here is a list of all the cards in the Major Arcana (22 cards) and their meanings:

The Fool: new beginnings, innocence, free spirit
The Magician: willpower, desire, creation, manifestation
The High Priestess: intuitive, unconscious, inner voice
The Empress: motherhood, fertility, nature
The Emperor: authority, structure, control, fatherhood
The Hierophant: tradition, conformity, morality, ethics
The Lovers: partnerships, duality, union
The Chariot: direction, control, willpower
Strength: inner strength, bravery, compassion, focus
The Hermit: contemplation, search for truth, inner guidance
The Wheel of Fortune: change, cycles, inevitable fate
Justice: cause and effect, clarity, truth
The Hanged Man: sacrifice, release, martyrdom
Death: end of cycle, beginnings, change, metamorphosis
Temperance: middle path, patience, finding meaning
The Devil: addiction, materialism, playfulness
The Tower: sudden upheaval, broken pride, disaster
The Star: hope, faith, rejuvenation
The Moon: unconscious, illusions, intuition
The Sun: joy, success, celebration, positivity
Judgement: reflection, reckoning, awakening
The World: fulfillment, harmony, completion

Kylie Cantwell | 720 comments I'll do 22.

Tarot is a pack of 78 playing cards that was first used in the 15th century. The deck includes 22 cards in the Major Arcana and 56 cards in the Minor Arcana. The Minor Arcana consists of four suits of 14 cards each: Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. The cards of the Major Arcana tell the Fool's Journey: a spiritual journey from The Fool’s innocent beginning to fulfillment in The World, and all life’s stages in between.

For this challenge, we will read books that match the tarot cards:
- books that fit the meaning of the card (e.g. The Lovers: Pride and Prejudice)
- books that have a card name in the title (e.g. The Strength: That Hideous Strength)
- books with a cover that matches a tarot card (e.g. The Moon: The Call of the Wild by Jack London )

Here is a list of all the cards in the Major Arcana (22 cards) and their meanings:

The Fool: new beginnings, innocence, free spirit
The Magician: willpower, desire, creation, manifestation
The High Priestess: intuitive, unconscious, inner voice
The Empress: motherhood, fertility, nature
The Emperor: authority, structure, control, fatherhood
The Hierophant: tradition, conformity, morality, ethics
The Lovers: partnerships, duality, union
The Chariot: direction, control, willpower
Strength: inner strength, bravery, compassion, focus
The Hermit: contemplation, search for truth, inner guidance
The Wheel of Fortune: change, cycles, inevitable fate
Justice: cause and effect, clarity, truth
The Hanged Man: sacrifice, release, martyrdom
Death: end of cycle, beginnings, change, metamorphosis
Temperance: middle path, patience, finding meaning
The Devil: addiction, materialism, playfulness
The Tower: sudden upheaval, broken pride, disaster
The Star: hope, faith, rejuvenation
The Moon: unconscious, illusions, intuition
The Sun: joy, success, celebration, positivity
Judgement: reflection, reckoning, awakening
The World: fulfillment, harmony, completion

Finished with the Major Arcana?
Challenge yourself to read books fitting one or more of the Minor Arcana suits next!
Or repeat the Major Arcana, but focussing on the Reversed (opposite) meaning of each card!

Minor Arcana (4 suits of 14 cards): (view spoiler)

More information about the meaning of each of the cards can be found here: https://labyrinthos.co/blogs/tarot-ca...
