Bookmark Exchange
hey guys - i'm opening this back up - the mods are going to help Jacki with itif you have expressed interest in participating, please let us know if you are willing to ship internationally (if you livein the US) - we don't want our overseas brethern to feel left out
Im in Canada, so it will be a bit more expensive for me/others to mail, but its not going to be a 2 pound parcel sooo.... Still interested
I'm in Canada, shouldn't be too bad. Plus I live close to the border so it can always be sent state side.
I think I'll wait until tomorrow evening to see if there are any others to participate, and then I will start organizing.
Natalie - being APO/AE - how easy is it for you to send stuff to others? (I know I always used to have a significant delay sending stuff)
I'm closing sign-ups at this point. I will be messaging each of you with instructions so that we can get this started! If you have any questions, please feel free to message me or post here.
One quick thing before I send out instructions -- we have 13 girls signed up right now (myself included). I can split this group in half, and have two groups of seven (I will make an extra bookmark to even it out).
This way, the cost is lower for everyone. If you prefer this, please post "Split".
If you prefer to keep this as one group of thirteen (which would cost a little more for everyone), please post "Whole".
Once I count the 'votes", I will send out the instructions!
hi there! It makes sense splitting up the group to save some money but I am absolutely fine with either one!
Dee, it's pretty easy. Usually I only have a problem if I'm mailing to other people in Europe because I it has to go to the States and then back to Europe. But otherwise it's only a day or two longer than mailing in the US.
Is it too late? I was away on vacation and only had my smart phone. I tried to send a message but the phone was smarter than me.
Hi Everyone!I just sent out messages to most of you with instructions for the bookmark exchange; a few of you I had to add as friends in order to message you. One thing I realized as I was going through, and almost down the list, is that I miscounted (this is why I'm a reading teacher, and not a math teacher!). My message says to send thirteen bookmarks - please change that to fourteen! Those that responded didn't mind going with the whole group, so I based the number off of that.
Please feel free to message me if you have any questions at all! Can't wait to see these bookmarks start coming in! :)

Hi Jacki, I just checked my messages and didn't see one from you.

Thanks, will let you know later with the time difference
I received some feedback with regard to the "due date" and some concerns that packages won't reach me by April 13, especially if being sent from outside the US. I don't want anyone to stress themselves out over this (it's supposed to be fun!), so I'm going to push back the due date to April 22 instead. I will put everyone's package together as soon as I get them all, and send them out as quickly as possible. I'll post on here once they are all sent! Thank you all for participating, and for your patience with me. This is my first time running an exchange, so I'm learning as I go :)

Im curious how sending a posted envelope would work for people from Canada like myself. I ask this because for me to mail it to the US its a different stamp/fee than if I was sending it within Canada, and I would think it would be the same system in the States... Sooo just wondering how that would work..
I've been googling "sending a self addressed stamped envelope internationally" and some of the pages suggest using International Reply Coupons, which seems to be an exchange system for different countries' stamps. For example, if I am mailing to Germany, I would put my US postage on, and include an IRC inside for the recipient to use to get German postage when it's time to send my envelope back. Some sites made it seem as if IRCs aren't used anymore, but US postal service had information about it on their website. I will go to my post office on Monday to ask about this, or to get their recommendations on the most cost-efficient option. I will update as soon as I find out some information!

I will also check at my post office sometime this week.

I am currently in the middle of the first half of Season One (for the second or third time, now that I have the DVDs!) and of course, Outlander fever is taking over me again!
I am planning on joining in on the series re-read (currently in the middle of two grad classes, so reading time is scarce), but I wanted to put out a suggestion and see if there is any interest.
Another group that I am a member of, once ran a bookmark exchange. One woman was in charge, and posted a message for those who are interested to "sign up". We had to message her with our name and address, and once sign-ups were over, she posted to each of us the number of participants, so that we knew how many bookmarks to create or supply, and her address so that we could send them to her. There was a date that they were due by, and once she received everyone's bookmarks, she mailed the collection to each participant. It was so much fun to create the bookmarks, then receive such a variety in the mail!
I would be happy to run a bookmark exchange for this group if enough people are interested. Would this be something anyone would want to do?
