Dan | 1577 comments Greetings weird fiction lovers. Please use this topic to nominate one or two masterpieces of weird fiction literature your fellow group members would probably like to read too. February is a short month. So let's limit the reading to ten pages per day maximum. That means, if the paperback, hardback, or kindle version of the nomination exceeds 290 pages, it must be saved for March's nomination. 290 pages or under for this February.

Dan | 1577 comments I nominate Brood of the Witch-Queen by Sax Rohmer. You might recognize the author's name as being that of the Fu Manchu series. That series is long and encompasses a number of genres, only one of which is weird fiction. I am planning to read about Sax Rohmer and especially Fu Manchu soon, as I have ordered Windy City Pulp Stories No.13. The book I am nominating above has nothing to do with Fu Manchu. It is instead probably Sax Rohmer's most famous and more purely weird fiction story. It also contains strong elements of horror. Reviews I have read of it say it is truly a scary story. Want to find out for yourself?

Zina (dr_zina) | 296 comments I really like Brood of the Witch-Queen suggestion. But just for an alternative, may I re-nominate The King of Elfland's Daughter by Lord Dunsany?

I'm sorry, but we have already read that one. Not sure if it can be nominated again?

I have a nomination or two, but I'm not at home right now to see which books I had in mind. Will check shortly.

Nicolai Alexander | 304 comments I would like to nominate Cursed Bunny by Bora Chung and The Dark Domain by Stefan Grabiński :)

We read that last summer. I wasn't impressed with it. Here's our discussion topic: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/.... If and when you read it please feel free to post your thoughts to that topic. Topics for books never close.

Dan | 1577 comments For my second nomination I choose the new anthology Horror Historia Violet. It is being classified as horror, but we have read three of these authors, and one of these 31 stories, as group reads already. I would classify it as 60% weird, 30% fantasy, and 10% horror.

Edit: Actually, this book is out in hardback and Kindle only (and expensive at that), not in paperback until March 2024. So, I withdraw this nomination.

Zina (dr_zina) | 296 comments Oh! missed that it was already read! I recently read In the Land of Time and found it quite agreeably whimsical.

Dan | 1577 comments My second nomination is Further Beyond: A Lovecraftian Science Fiction Novel by Brian M. Stableford. This is Gary's recommended sequel to Lovecraft's story "From Beyond" that we in the Lovecraft group read last month.

Both, great nominations. Thanks!

Four more days for nominations if anyone else can think of some worthy weird fiction titles.
