I was privileged to read the ARC for this book. It's quite wonderful. I hope you all enjoy it!Now if Justin would just get the sequel written. . .
Thank you so much for having me and Hellweg's Keep over for January 2024! I really appreciate it. I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone and answering questions :)
Thanks for the kind words, Heather! And I have kinda left things open for a sequel, haven't I? :) You'll have to enjoy To Cut a Man, Unseen Gods, and Chum first, but then...we shall see.Heather wrote: "I was privileged to read the ARC for this book. It's quite wonderful. I hope you all enjoy it!

Marie wrote: "I am going to throw out the first question, Justin. How did this book come about?"
Great question! As a kid, I loved claustrophobic space horror like Alien, Event Horizon, Ghosts of Mars, stuff like that. And, a few years back, a school friend of mine retired from the FBI. Her name was Heidi Ohmann...thus Kendra Omen. So, the combination of the above was how the idea for Hellweg's Keep came about.
What a Reader's Hook! Sci Fi and Horror are my lifelong go-to modes, so when they're combined, whoa!! Example, Dead Silence. I commenced last evening and have been reading all day. Hopefully, I'll finish tonight. I am loving this interweaving of Science Fiction, implacable Horror, and weird occult involvement (which also seems like Lovecraftian Cosmic Horror, with Portals and Vortexes-Whee!!)

So that also answered another question as I was going to ask you if any of the characters are from anyone that you knew personally and one of the characters is. :)

Getting a copy right now, I love isolation horror or being cut off but claustrophobic sounds like a whole other nasty ballgame. Count me in for the read :)
Justin, thank you so much for joining us this month!

When you were writing this story Justin - you described to a tee the claustrophobic feeling so well that I was wondering if you were feeling it yourself as you were writing the book. Do you go through those kind of emotions when writing?

That scene in particular I found difficult to write straight through. I find that my best writing comes when I put myself firmly in a characters shoes and try to experience what they are experiencing.

This is an amazing book! Now: more, please? It'd be great to see where some particular characters continue, and also I'd love a sequel! Meanwhile, there are more books of yours to read.😁My review is at:

Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate them. I have had a number of folks ask about a sequel. It's definitely a possibility. In the meanwhile, I do have a book launching on January 30th...TO CUT A MAN. Maybe check it out..?
While writing this book, Justin, did you ever spook yourself with writing some of the spooky scenes?

Buying it for the name alone.

I loved Kendra! She just has that "go-getter done" attitude. :)

I finished the book today and since I had already read it last year - I just kept the review the same with a few small tweaks. :) Staying at five stars for me! :)

I just reached chapter 3 and now I'm like oooo what's happening in the mine and stuff and the start well I wasn't expecting that to happen

Story Synopsis:
Thirty-seven miners disappear without a trace within a Titanium mine, Hellweg’s Keep, deep within Zeta One, a moon orbiting the planet, Terra. When FBI agent Kendra Omen arrives via the spaceship Marietta, strange phenomenon begins to manifest…suicides, shadows a shade darker than the shadows they move within, disembodied whispers, and Kendra would swear she catches a glimpse of her own deceased daughter walking the dimly lit halls of Hellweg enterprises. But that’s impossible. Isn’t it? As evidence of occult practices at the mine emerges, Kendra realizes the answers they seek, and hopefully the thirty-seven miners, will only be found underground in the claustrophobic labyrinth of shafts and natural caverns within Hellweg’s Keep.
