Hi people! I think this is the first year I actually recognize names on our team list, lol.

So like, I guess since you're Raiders and we're... *check notes*... Guardians, we're mortal enemies or something, what?
*scolding from scabbard*
Dawn's Herald: Can't you even keep track of your own team?
Mel: Hey, not my fault! I've been on a different team every year! You've only ever been a Sword!
Dawn's Herald: Better than only ever having been a prick.
Mel: Heh. Nice.
*Tome Raiders all stare, unamused*
Mel: *cough cough* So yeah. I guess I got this mighty fine Bookmobile, filled with all manner of... Tomes, and it would be such a shame if anyone were to Raaaaid them. *bats eyes*
Dawn's Herald: Really?
Mel: Shut up, Harold.
*Raiders look around*
So do you want us to like... raid them now? Or...?
Mel: No, Goobers! We haven't started yet! I'm just like, saying hi, or whatever. It's not like I miss you or anything. I never said that. *covers eyes with shades* Let's go, Harold!

The pile of books in the back of Mel's Bookmobile shudders and collapses outwards, revealing Nirkatze already feverishly pawing through pages, more than a little glassy-eyed... "Must... read... them... all... Will... not... give... in..."Mel: What were you-- whatever. Did you hear the part about not starting yet? There's still a few more days--wait! What are you--? Are you eating those books?
Nirkatze (feverishly): Start... now... finish... Jan... 1st... must... devour... all.... *gnaws on a book*
Dawn's Herald: Ignore her, the FOMO is strong with this one.
Nirkatze: *in a feverish glut of books*Mel: *rushes to Nirkatze's side and takes off sunglasses* You goober! I told you not to start yet! What am I supposed to-? Of course! Syrup of Ipecac! *pulls out and administers syrup*
Dawn's Herald: You had that on you? And are you seriously getting medical advice from Anne of Green Gables?
Mel: I'll save you, Diana!
Dawn's Herald: That's not even how the story goes!
*Nirkatze coughs and the book fever clears*
Mel: My bosom friend! I am in raptures of delight to know you safe!
*Raiders stand a ways back, looking on with varying levels of concern and cringe*
Jenna, Felina, and Nyssa: *inexplicably appeared with popcorn*
Niki:*steps forward to take Nirkatze*
Mel: She's out of danger, but I'd recommend feeding her some light novellas and short stories, just to be safe.
*Mel dons shades again and saunters off with Dawn's Herald*
Dawn's Herald: Seriously though, what was all that bosom friend stuff?
Mel: Getting into character. Medicine works best with some in-world histrionics. Says there on the label.
Dawn Herald: Huh.
Mel: Wait, you sayin' 'Katze isn't bosom material? Don't make me fight you. Nirkatze is super bosomy!
Dawn's Herald: Don't let her hear you say that.
*they get into the Bookmobile*

Dawn's Herald: So, am I your bosom friend?
Mel: Heh. Shut up Harold.
*starts engine and drives off*

Mel: *waves back* Don't question it.
I love it! My sword bequeathed to me from Chris is Herald's most bosomy friend.
Haha, Harold and I are sworn swordmates, so as such are pretty much obligated to talk shit to one another. Harold's as bosomy as they come. (Just don't let anyone overhear me say that. :P)
You *think* it was the syrup that brought Nirkatze out of the book-haze, but actually it was the smell of popcorn....We can all be bosomy friends together... along with the books...
I have no idea what's going on here but I'm here for it :D

*Bookmobile parks outside Raiders HQ*Mel: *deep breath* So, here we are.
Virginie: *hops out and walks up to front entrance* Oh wow! It's been ages!
Mel: *jogs to catch up* Okay, so just play it cool. Let's not act like we miss them or anything. It's not like they were our first team, and we left a piece of our hearts with them years ago, right? *laughs*
Virginie: *rings doorbell*
Mel: *panics* Oh shit, should we have brought cookies? We should have brou-
*door opens*
Gaea: Oh hi, Mel! What a surprise! Dawn's Herald, good to see you too. And you must be... Virginie! Please, come in!
*looks over shoulder* Nirkatze!
Nirkatze: *aggressively lounging on the sofa*
Gaea: ... NIRKATZE!! Pause the audio for two seconds - we have company!
Nirkatze: *whips head up and takes out an earbud* Eyyyy! Harold! What're you doing still hanging around this misfit? *pops up and gives Mel a hearty embrace*
*other Raiders slowly emerge to peer from introverted bedrooms and corridors*
Virginie: *smiles shyly* A lot of new faces, I see. Oh hi, Rob! You're a Raider now? But where's...?
*heavy bootsteps from above*
*a shadowy figure leans against the railing*
"Now who's that I hear down there?"
*a whip snaps around the chandelier and the figure leaps to land heroically in their midst in a rising swirl of dust*
Mel: *whispers* Sweet mother of dragons...
Niki: Virginie! It's been too long! *swings Virginie into a bear hug*
Virginie: It's good to be back!
Niki: *looks over* And Mel, I thought I warned Gaea about letting in the riff-raff.
Mel: *shrug* Guilty.
Niki: Well! This calls for something! Come to the kitchens and we'll catch up over a bite, and introduce you to the newbies. I forget, do you prefer tea or coffee? Come on, everyone!
Mel: *mutters* I knew I should have brought cookies...

HELLO I AM HERE :D I’ve had the worst year. My brain is frazzled. I had surgery, lost a dog, then was broken up with after 12 years (so much for we’ll grow old together) and my other dog had a stroke.
I am not sure my brain still knows how to focus or read, but I am trying to get back on the horse and I’m so glad to be here.
Niki: *opens door to Raiders HQ* You're here!Olivia: I'm here!
Niki: *hugs Olivia* We're glad you made it, hon.
Rob: Here, let me get your bookbag.
Narilka: I helped get your room ready! Want me to show you?
Nirkatze: *grins* I may have populated your shelves with some... *eyebrow waggles* curated selections.
Niki: *dubious glare* The way you say that...
Monika: This is your first year as a Raider, right? Mine too!
Olivia: Well actually... there was that one year when we were the Bloody Raiders...
Niki: *shadowed sepulchre voice* We do not speak of the Dark Times...
Olivia: Heh, yeah, the decor was rather... *cough cough* ...intense.
Gaea：Are you hungry? Katie and I have been cooking up a storm!
*Raiders head to the kitchens in a gaggle of conversation*
[Some time later, the Raiders are well-satiated, sitting around the kitchen table.]Niki: So, you must be exhausted. Do you want to turn in early and just read for a bit?
Olivia: Actually, I was thinking maybe a movie? I don't know if I could focus enough to read right now.
Narilka: Hey yeah! It's your welcome night!
Nirkatze: I'll pop the popcorn!!
*the Raiders stand to clean up, only to suddenly quiet and freeze to the sound of the front door unlocking*
*echoing footsteps approach*
Mel: *leans against the entrance to the kitchen* So, you know you guys never change your locks, right?
NIki: *rolls eyes* I knew we were forgetting something.
Mel: I'd heard word that-- *eyes lock with Olivia*
*makes purposeful strides across the kitchen and wraps Olivia in a fierce embrace*
Olivia: *flustered* Hello there!
Mel: Hey. It's... It's good you're here. Things suck less when... when you're with friends, right? *sniff*
Dawn's Herald: Are you crying?
Mel: Geez Harold, can't you let us have a moment? *sniff* Besides, these are rugged tears of Friendship and Awesome.
Dawn's Herald:*not at all whispering* It's why they always wear the sunglasses, you know.
Mel: I swear to Jod, you overgrown switchblade, I will invent ways to make you weep.
Dawn's Herald: Too late, I've already read your poetry.
Mel: *GASP!* You said it was evocative!
Olivia: Ummmm...
Mel: *steps back* Oh sorry. Yeah, I can't bring him anywhere.

Nirkatze: I'm making POPCORN!!

Mel: Well... I did bring cookies this time. *grin*

I had a great day :) Finished two books!
Yay for both of you! the school I work at is winding down, one more week until summer! my little one actually slept last night, all the way through! it's only taken her two and a half years lol. it's currently 2am here and I'm sitting on her bedroom floor because she's woken up and I'm not allowed to leave (as usual) but I still see progress!
Yikes! I'm glad the light at the end of the toddler tunnel is getting closer! And I'm well acquainted with the lure of summer after a long school year.... how long do y'all get off for?@Narilka--two books! High five!
