I had a rough work day. First patient in emergency had bed bugs so even though I was extra covered, they found the big boot covers that go up to my knee, I still was itchy for hours. And then I got into a huge argument with my scheduler. I hung up on her it was so bad. Ive caught her in a lie, I have proof of this, but Im still getting screwed out of a banked day for working a stat because of her mistake. Im getting paid for the day but not getting the extra day off. Its all kinds of a mess.
It's not been a great week on the work front for me either, our midwife called in sick at the last minute on Monday (she was already covering for our regular midwife who was on jury service) so I had to call up the patients to rebook their appointments, which was not fun. Then on Thursday our last patient of the day was a complex safeguarding case so she was very difficult to deal with and took a long time, her appointment was at 3 and I wasn't able to leave until 5.45, my shifts on Thursday are meant to end at 5 and usually I don't mind if they run over because it's healthcare and things happen, but I was going to the theatre after work with my friend on Thursday and I really couldn't afford to be late. I had to run to the tube and even then I was late to meet her. We so desperately need another midwife at the clinic it's not even funny, I know it's only a small clinic but it's so stressful for everyone, me, the midwife, the patients that we only have one midwife because if one patient's appointment overruns, that puts everyone back and they end up paying us all a ridiculous amount of overtime because the lists don't run to time. I do appreciate the extra money and I don't usually mind doing the overtime but sometimes I do just want to be able to get out of the building at 5! They said they're doing recruitment atm so I really hope that a new midwife for our clinic is one of the people they are recruiting!
Best of luck getting another midwife hired! I agree some overtime sometimes is good but all the time like that is just exhausting
What did you see at the theatre?
What did you see at the theatre?
Yeah they desperately need more staff across the board really, one of the admin team for the other clinic (we're a satellite of a larger clinic in East London) has just left so we're basically short staffed everywhere and they're relying on the goodwill of their current staff to cover, but we don't really have enough staff as it is so it's all a little fraught at the moment. Hopefully things will get better soon! I went to see The Lion King with a friend of mine. Neither of us had seen it in for almost ten years and we were both really surprised at how well it held up. We also both didn't remember a whole lot from the first time around because it had been so long so it was like seeing it again for the first time really!
I get that feeling. There isn't enough health care staff anywhere. Hope your staffing situation improves!
That sounds great. I havent seen it done but Lion King is supposed to be so good. Glad you enjoyed!

I really admire you guys, Jo going out to the theatre, Brittany doing pole dancing, having fun and all the things... sounds really amazing. And here I am, being such a homebody, leaving home for 1h per day just to the nearest park or grocery shop :D get some fresh air and back home again.
Elena I'm the same 😂 I am also a huge homebody and will not leave the house unless I absolutely have to. Lol. In my defense, I work at a grade school surrounded by 10 year-olds all day long, so my social battery is pretty drained by the time I get home. Lol.

Thank you! They are actively hiring at the moment so fingers crossed we get some new people in soon.

Have a great vacation Brittany! I have an all-day team meeting on Monday and am dreading it, it will be so dull.....
Glad to hear your vacation was good! Going back to work after a nice, long break is always the worst 😩
Hey everyone. I have been pretty AWOL for a while, I was completing my Advanced Teacher Status and doing a huge project and portfolio on top of teaching full time was insane. However, I just got notice that I achieved it. WOOP! Now time for more reading.
