Nothing Ever Happens Here by Sarah Hagger-Holt is the story of a family that turns heads when Izzy's dad comes out as a trans woman. Slice-of-life, family dynamics, and musical theater. Recommended!
Fans of Alex Gino's work would definitely enjoy Jamie! Set in the UK, Jamie and their two best friends, Daisy and Ash, realize moving up a grade means being placed in one of two schools—one for girls, one for boys. Daisy and Ash both know their place in the system, but everyone seems to have forgotten about Jamie.
Each chapter defines LGBTQ+ terminology, acronyms, issues, and experiences in easy-to-understand terms. The story is emotionally honest and full of humor whilst gently educating young readers about what it means to be part of the LGBTQ+ community... good, bad, and fabulous.

Just finished The List of Things That Will Not Change by Rebecca Stead. Two years ago, only child Bea experienced a huge shift when her parents divorced. Now, there's another big change on the horizon. Her dad is going to marry his boyfriend, which will make Jesse a part of her family. And that means his daughter Sonia will become Bea's sister, which is the best news ever.
